COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

(33 cl bottle from Ølbutikken; BBD: October 10th 2013; Batch #318) Pours black with a beautifully dense, tan head. Decent retention, good regeneration and beautiful lace. Aroma is fresh, simcoe-like herbal hoppiness. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium body and a rather bitter finish. Taste follows the nose with added bitterness. Somewhat agressive but in a refined and very smooth way like a hitman. Girlfriend says "It has a subtle cola-note to it. It’s bitter but it’s okay."

Brown to black colour, small off white head. Mix bewteen fruitiness and black malts. Taste is fruity and dark malts again. Nice, good balance, like s tout or porter with a good swing of hoppiness. Smooth and tasteful.

Jet black body, adorned with a beautiful mocha coloured head. Wasn’t expecting a lot of hops, but the Simcoe hops shine through brilliantly on the draw, and mid tongue, and then roasted malts, light coffee and a hint of mocha get big on the swallow. I want to call it balanced, because it is, but that word also insinuates "safe" in my mind and there is no playing it safe going on in this beer. I’d buy cases of this if I could find it. So delicious.

Opaque black color, with medium beige head. Low to medium carbonation. Medium body with oily texture. Aroma is hops, citrus, pine and grass. Taste is bitter, caramel, little roasted coffee and slightly sweet. Aftertaste is long, bitter and dry.

Dark with small head. Fantastic aroma, caramel, flowers, hops, honey. Taste is brown sugar. Medium body, bitter finish with some alcohol notes. Not bad, but still looking for my favorite Brewdog beer.

Negra, espuma bege, média formação. Aroma achocolatado, toffee, torrada, pão preto, mas discreto. Sabor remete a defumação, amargor e dulçor leve/médio, corpo médio/denso. Aftertaste intensifica o amargor e reduz dulçor, persistente.

First black IPA I’ve tried, it amazed me, I couldn’t believe I was drinking a black ale that tastes as an IPA. Lots of floral and fruits, hoppy finish.

Donkere ale met veel aroma en super zachte smaak. Wat droge maar zeer lekkere nasmaak. Daarnaast een hele gave fles!

Pours a deep black with a medium brown head. The aroma is huge, the smell starts of with lots of resin/piny aromas, some citrus, then comes the malty some coffee and roasty aromas. The taste is lightly sweet, not too bitter. Full body, taste of caramel, lively carbonation, some alcohol and a long lasting bitterness in the finish. Overall a very good beer, hoppy yet balanced.
