COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Pours black with a rapidly dissipating off white head. Nice hoppy aromas, herbs, citrus. In the mouth comes the dark malt, some coffee, licorice, some smoke, and more great hops. Nice texture and decent concentration. A nice beer from Brewdog which gives the best of two worlds - the hoppy and the dark.

Super look ideal to style. Medium bodied. Easish head. Palatabke roast which never approaches unpalatable austerity. Malt integration is well handled and balanced. Good.

From a bottle. Pours dark brown black, high carbonation and decent beige head with persistent foam lacing. Aroma is hops, with roasted malt and chocolate undercurrent. Taste is ok but slightly unbalanced: sweet malt, coffee and chocolate followed by quite strong resinous pine and citrus fruit from the Simcoe hops and a long bitter finish with some alcohol noticeable. Overall not bad, not a stereotypical black IPA.

Thick treacly and with a powerful taste that lingers. Pungent aroma quite sweet smelling. Gorgeous thick and dark. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Hops, yeast, liquorice, flapjack.
Appearance: Pours a dark brown, almost black colour. Light, caramel head.
Taste: Very bitter hops, with a lingering coffee kick.
Palate: Bitter throughout. Medium body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Not bad. I certainly prefer black IPAs over a stout any day. The bitterness outshines any character this one has.

Unclear black beer with a small beige head. Taste: delicious bitter hops, roasted malts, light citrus, light smoke, pine, orange, lemon. Another good beer from Brewdog.

From bottle. Pours black with nice, hard head. Aroma pine, hops, coffee, honey. Taste more coffee than in aroma, caramel, roasty. Medium carbonation, medium to full body.
