COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Bottle, Tesco Galashiels. Sneaked this onto the wifes online shopping, must try that again! This has a rich malty nose but the high hop content is apparent, an interesting aroma, I can’t say I’ve come across anything like this before! As expected, this has a good bit of body, again big on (roasted) malt, but the citrus edge of the hops quickly comes to the fore...there’s a lot going on here, quite sweet but it finishes clean and it lingers well! A cracking brew!

Bottle. This is a really nice beer. Balanced is not a word often associated with Brewdog but this time they’ve hit the nail on the head!

Een bier met een heel uitgesproken smaak, maar spijtig genoeg niets voor mij.

No date - bottle thanks to Brent, I believe. Black pour with a nice tan head and plenty of lacing. Hoppy aroma hits first, mild grapefruit, some pine, followed by light ashiness and cooked coffee. Decent meld of flavors, that fruity hoppiness mixed with a mild roasty bitterness. Not bad, but didn’t blow me away.

A metallic pine aroma from a black body and a thin foamy white head, tastes of coffee and chocolate with a mild corriander coming in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Black color with creamy head (which stays not too much time). Aroma of grapefruit, pine. Taste is bitter-sweet. Aftertaste is very continuous, hoppy and with nice notes of coffee. Great tasty beer.

Excellent. Was not a palate wrecker by any stretch. It pours an opaque black and gives off nutty, subtle pine aromas backed up by a generous hit of unexpected roast malt, which outweighs the expected aggressive hit of resinous glory.

Bottle, bb 4-2015. Pours black with a quickly dimisnishing tan head. Aroma: wow! grass, pine, citrus, herbs. Taste: liquorice, pine, resin, roast, tropical fruits, coffee, salt, bay leaf, cocao . Full body, oily mouthfeel. light-medium sweetnes, medium-high bitterness. Long lasting resin, liquorice, salty, coffee finish. Lovely, I want more already!
