1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 beikes (85) - Aarhus, DENMARK - JUN 4, 2013
This just goes to show how hard it really is to brew a decent porter. BrewDog makes many a world class beer, but the libertine Porter was is definitely not one of them. It’s almost like it’s an unfinished brew, and there’s definitely something missing here. It’s rather thin at the pour, the color is not that inviting either and reminds me more of a cola softdrink than anything. There are some hints of caramel and rye in the aroma which aren’t a scam, because that’s the main thing I taste too. Everything vanishes before you can really get a load of it though, from head to taste.. There’s a reason why brewers more and more pull out porter of their production, as it is simply a timeconsuming science to make the perfect brew. The Libertine Porter is nowhere near being an interesting one..
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TET (1130) - FINLAND - DEC 14, 2012
A colabrown beer with a medium but a weakening and brown head. Aroma is greatly balanced and pleasant, nice roastiness, chocolate and sweetness, liquirice. Taste of strong roastiness, coffee, some liquirice, herbal bitterness in the middle of taste, aftertaste is roasted and even slightly burned. Medium bodied, low carbonation, pleasant and quite smooth to drink. Powerfull, strongly roasted and clearly hopped beer, the personal Porter.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Tide (785) - Espoo, FINLAND - DEC 6, 2012
Bottle from a friend. Black color, brown head. Strong, roasty taste with smoke, coffee and liquorice. Burnt taste dominates too much. Burnt finish with coffee. Mixed feelings about this one, but ok for an experiment.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rune (6356) - Tromsø, NORWAY - APR 22, 2012
Half pint from the draft menu at BrewDog Glasgow. Fawn-coloured head on top of a body that is black as pitch. Smell of peaty malts and dark fruits. Nice blended flavour of dark fruits, liquorice and juicy, chocolate malts and with a peaty touch throughout. Lingering dark bitter ending. Tasty, 10.04.2012.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dantheman278 (1336) - SCOTLAND - APR 3, 2012
Keg at BrewDog. Dark brown/black. Thin tan head. Big fruity grassy hop nose, hint of apricot, coffee grounds. Big roast coffee front, followed by big earthy/roasty bitter hops, but it’s all a bit thin. Not one of the best.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 stravale (1372) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 29, 2012
Keg @ BrewDog Edinburgh 260312
Black, thin tan head, little lacing
Aroma of grassy hops...dark rich caramel malts..soft roasted malts..bit of nut kernel...slightly earthy
Taste of grassy hops..some resinous hops...dark caramel malts..soft roasted malts...reminds me of Equity for Punks 2011....similar grassy hop flavour that’s in many of their beers
Palate - bit perppery pn the back...vit voscous dark malts. Finish as main favlur, quite dry, astringent spicy resinous hoppy bit spicy finish
I prefer Alice Porter to this, it’s a bit too hoppy and is straying into Black IPA territory - still quite a good beer though
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 CamdenD (980) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAR 20, 2012
Nicely poured from the CamdenTown Brewdog bar. Comes off a bit thin for a porter, but otherwise is enjoyable and nicely hopped.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 flying_pig (634) - SCOTLAND - MAR 19, 2012
On-tap at Brewdog Glasgow:
Roasted malts and some light coffee notes along with some cocoa and a little dried fruit. There is quite a bit of spice to this one on the nose and a touch of dark chocolate.
Black with touches of a deep red around the edges and a light, reddish brown head on top.
Strong malty taste though and a little touch of hops too. The coffee isn’t quite as strong as nose. Some licorice notes along with some chocolate and hints of dried fruit. It is rounded off with a fair bit of spice.
Medium bodied beer with good bitter malts and a spicy, lingering coffee aftertaste and a touch of dryness.
Nice spicy notes to this beer and a good balance with a solid, malt base and the occasional taste of hops throughout.
