Brewed for the Lichtenstein exhibition at the Tate modern in 2013 l
We all got understandably pretty excited when the awe inspiring TATE Modern asked if we wanted to work with them to brew a special beer to mark the launch of the upcoming Lichtenstein exhibition there. Damn right we wanted to. The result being this awesome 5.2% pale ale. The label features original Lichtenstein artwork and is quite possibly the coolest beer label on the planet.

330ml bottle (Kitty’s, Helsinki)
Adequate hopple sweet APA aroma. A touch cleanery, a dull piney citrus. Sticky palate, crisp carbonation. Retronasals quite zesty. An OK pale orange, and a brief tight white head. Typical brewdog sticky mashy malts, but less offensive than normal. The hops are pleasantly bitter, quite herbal. Finish is resiny and dry. Late finish even a bit nutty. Pretty good for things classified as APA.

Bottle 33 cl, BBE 11/02/2014. Pours amber in color with a foamy whitish head. Grapefruit and forrest pine in aroma. Bready malty and quite dry doughy elements in taste, perhaps that’s what the rye contributes here. But the grassy piney notes takes over after a while. Something herbal is in taste as well but that note is quite subtle. Grassy bitter with light fruityness in finish. I’m missing the juicyness in this one.

33 cl bottle @ Kahdet Kasvot. Batch #028, BBE 11.02.2014
Aroma is rather hoppy with fruits and gooseberry bush. Flavour has hops, gooseberry bush, some fruitiness and hints of nettles. Too much gooseberry bush here, but decent anyway.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Procured from The Tate Modern. Pours perfectly gold with a fine, creamy white head. Some spicy pine in the nose, sweet pale malts, hints of tangerine. Light to medium sweet flavor, lightly tangy citrus, melon, grapefruit, mandarin orange. Light bodied with average carbonation. Further tangy citrus fruits to finish, lightly spicy pine, light sticky resins, pine needles. Very nice, drinkable APA.

Poured clear golden with a small froathy white head. Typical "brewdog" aroma with grape, pine and resin, some moderated malt. So a light body, easy drinkable one with a hop dominated profile. Resin, grape and simcoe;-) cheers!
