#Mashtag 2014 - a beer for the people, by the people.
The #Mashtag concept is simple. We invited the public to vote on each aspect of the brew, from hops to malt to the special twist and even the label design, and from the thousands of possibilities this presented, the result is an imperial red ale, brewed with copious speciality malts, a global blend of hops, and blood orange, lemon peel and orange peel.
On the nose, there’s a riot of citrus, in many forms, from orange pith to lemon zest, via lime juice and even lemongrass. Fresh, bright resinous notes blend with light toasty malt aromas.
The palate is intense with toffee, with tiny hints of tobacco smoke coming through in little bursts, but the star attraction is an all-out bitter orange avalanche. A slightly psychotic, orange-that-thinks-it’s-a-grapefruit character builds upon and intensifies the hop bitterness, squaring up against the rich sweet malt base. The result is a huge red ale with a drinkable quality you’d expect in a beer half this strength.

HKdIPA (280) - HONG KONG - NOV 2, 2014
Tap at Craft Brew & Co. Dark dark clear amber pour. Aroma is lots of malts with some citrusy hops. Taste is prickly with citrus peel bitterness, very rich deep maltiness too to balance. Big big flavor - very bitter, very malty in a red ale way, juicy too. Quite sweet, and with lots of booziness. Pretty good.

Appearance is Amber, quite dark, half finger beige head which disappears quickly. Aroma- orange, hoppy notes, malty. Taste- very bitter, pine, hop resins, clings to the mouth, orange peel, hint of dark fruits, solid malt backbone, quite a long finish. Tasty.

HopRedHead (391) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 29, 2014
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours dirty dark amber with a sticky khaki head. Massive aroma of toffee, pine needles, candied citrus, mandarin, sticky caramel. Palate mellows out heaps, lots of sticky caramel, toasty malts and some pine and orange peel hop character. Body is very thin considering the aroma and booze, wanted it to be a bit chewier. Lingering sweet bitterness.

maneliquor (3203) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 29, 2014
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours clear amber with little head. Nose smells like a big beer. Loads of raisin sweetness, lychee, booze, resin and mild tropical fruits. The taste is driven by tropical fruit sweetness and sticky resin before it mellows off with milk chocolate and sultanas. Almost a little cookie dough-like. The booze is present and the mouth feel is a touch thin. Solid but not hitting anything out of the park

I really liked this one.... Brown-reddish color. Tan medium head. Citrus aroma, grapefruit. Taste is hoppy, citrus, and not too much alcohol. You cannot tell its 9%. A bit sweet. Nice after taste of bitter and grapefruit... Even though this is not IPA there is a bit of the IPA-citrus-hoppy taste I love.. This is one I would buy again.
