3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
BOTTLE 33CL from dEnk (thanks, Colin!)
Look: deep red-brow almost black and clear with an small espresso frothy head with poor retention.
Aroma: malty, quite roasty and nutty, nice roasted acidity, salty even, some caramel/licorice.
Taste: dry, roasted, slightly salt, ashy, light hop bitterness.
A very stouty broen ale that is.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Vineous, earthy roasted nose. Dark chestnut, offwhite cream. Fullbodied, roasted, caramel, dark sugar, vanilla and tobacco from the oak, cant claim I detect more nutty notes than you would expect from the dark malts. Earthy and herbal aromatic hops round it off nicely. Full on flavor, well balanced works well as a winter warmer. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours in dark color body with medium tan, creamy head. Aroma is light on alcohol upfront with coffee, dark chocolate, woody, rhum. Taste is bitter upfront, earthy, light caramel after taste, astringent in the finish of the taste, little bit too much, kills the palate. Body is medium with medium carbonation, watery texture. I like the social media aspect of it.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
So far I have not encountered a bad beer from Brewdog. This time is not any different. I got strong, ’people designed’ brown ale with aromas of roasted malt, prunes, bread, cherries. Body is rather sweet with oily texture, carbonation is very smooth and foam is frothy and very stable. This beer needs to be drank at cellar temperature but I enjoyed how it changed and developed flavors and aromas when it got warmed.
Well done Brewdog, if I don’t feel like going Belgian, I will reach for Mashtag!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown with a fading head.
Nose shows cocoa, nut pralines and soft roasted malt.
Similar flavours, cocoa, nutty malt and a more dominant roasted character. Some coffee too. A bit harsh with the heavy roast and hop bitterness.
Carbonation seems a bit over the top.
