2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JohnCoyne (73) - USA - APR 28, 2010
Bottle. Pours a hazy reddish copper color with little to no head. Fizzes like champagne, barley wine so far. Alcohol tickles the nose but is cloyed by light caramel and toast, as well as some sugar fruit. Alcohol forward followed by toasty malt and back to hoppy alcohol on the finish. There is the barest hint of wood in with the hops, giving a strange bitterness not usually associated with hops, more of a kombucha tea bite at the end. I will try another bottle in 6 months and once more in a year to judge how long to age this beer.

33 cL bottle. Pours a deep hazzlenut brown with a small tan head. Aroma is dense pinewood hoppy, light alcohol and dark roasted malt. The malt flavours really come through with bread and dense roasted dark caramel. Quite dry and wooden hoppy note mixed into this. Finish has a warmning alcohol note and a mixed bite of the hops and alcohol. Slow sipper and tasty little brew.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bluebetty (880) - AUSTRALIA - APR 23, 2010
Bootle. Pours a reddish amber with thin slightly creamy coloured head. Aromas are quite sweet with plenty of fruit and sugar coming through. Lots of alcohol also. Flavours are a little odd and seem out of balance. Lots of alcohol and some sweetness followed by more alcohol and hop bitterness near the finish.
Bottle. Clear amber pour, thin off-white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of alcohol, fruits, sugar and wine. Too much alcohol in the aroma. Flavor is again loads of alcohol, very sweet with a nice bitterness and some licorice. Strangely out of balance. Expected more from this collaboration.

Bottle, tfs Vaiz! Brown reddish pour, soapy tanned head. Aroma of fruity hops, some alcohol. Expected more.
Flavour is a quite bitter alcoholic liquorice with some peat, smoke and fruit.
Nice, but too strong in comparison with the flavour.

Bottle. High creamy and long lasting off-white head. Hazy orange amber body. Citrus hops bitter aroma. Bitter acidic alcohol malt flavor. Low carbonation. Long bitter aftertaste. Sorry mates but this time the I find the alcohol is too dominant although the attempt to disguise it by a high bitterness is quite good.

Big thanks to Craig, cgarvieuk for this 14-04-10 Pours murky brown colour with cappucino coloured big bubbly head. Aroma is initially a touch sharp, but softens to maltiness. Taste is very, very, hoppy but also sticky, quite strange, there is some sourness, its heavy, warming, touch medicinal at times, flavour’s and bitterness clings for some time. I liked it. Pours an amber/copper with nearly no head, very much a barleywine in appearance... Aromas of caramel, apple, vinegar.... Flavor profile mimics the aroma with much less vinegar and a touch of oak/vanilla in the beginning... dry finish... full body full mouthfeel
