COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A collaboration brew between BrewDog and Mikkeller. This different vintage was brewed in 2009 with a 1/3rd of the beer being aged in a speyside whisky cask before being blended back with the base beer in 2010. The result is a 13.8% barley wine. NOTE: This is a different recipe to the previous batch and is clearly labelled as Devine Rebel 2010. If the bottle does not say 2010, the rating should go under the first batch.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber with an orangey head. The aroma has strong notes of smoke, over ripe fruits, and salami. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of alcohol, wood, vinegar, smoke, and whiskey as well as notes of hops and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry alcoholic finish, where the alcohol burns the tongue. A bit over the edge for me.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a hazy reddish dark amber with a beige head. The aroma is tart and woody, some caramel. Medium body, some alcohol, caramel and wood while some whisky notes come sailing through. Quite some alcohol burn in the finish. A bit rough. 130710

33 cL bottle. Pours a deep hazzlenut brown with a small tan head. Aroma is dense pinewood hoppy, light alcohol and dark roasted malt. The malt flavours really come through with bread and dense roasted dark caramel. Quite dry and wooden hoppy note mixed into this. Finish has a warmning alcohol note and a mixed bite of the hops and alcohol. Slow sipper and tasty little brew.

Bottled, from brewery (BB 02/2015)
Brown color, small beige head. Strong hoppy nose of resin, pine, licorice and anise. Quite smooth mouthfeel, although you can taste 13.8% very well. Flavor has lots of licorice, some bourbon-like whiskey notes, cranberries, piney hops (although with muted bitterness). Very pleasant and different brew. Positive suprise, I think that ageing _only_ 1/3 of beer in Speyside barrels, does the trick.
