4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 shoulderbroken (587) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 16, 2012
Bottle from Kris Wines, some time last year. Pours dark red brown with bubbly gold head. Aroma is smoky, boozy, lots of dark fruit, wood, whisky. Intense spiky and spicy booziness. Taste is quite smooth though. Taste is very boozy, can really taste the wood and whisky of the barrel. Very malty, even with a touch of caramel like creaminess. There is some bitterness at the end, but this is overwhelmed by the booze kick. Bit spice too. Surprisingly smooth and drinkable. This is pretty nice. Probably wouldn’t have more than one in a sitting though!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Blairgus (1189) - California, USA - JAN 27, 2012
27 jan 2012, bottle. Ruby w a pink notes. First whif had something of oak barrel in it. Ever since all I’ve gotten is sweet, meaty ale. Med/full body and a bit fizzy. Slight dry woodiness (that especially comes out in the finish), winey, wet, alcoholic raisins, fermenting bread. Nice. A little tartness in there certainly makes this unique.
