Once again Mikkeller brewed with one of the world’s leading breweries - this time BrewDog in Scotland. This beautiful maroon barley stored in Spreyside whiskey barrels, and it is revealed clearly in the flavor that whiskey is included. In addition there is rich malty and hoppy aroma with touches of soft fruit. The taste is rich and revealing light raspberry, cherry and a bit nuts. Hop bitterness is present as a marked factor, paying no secret of the hops. Personally, I keep most of a warming fruity barley, and it’s not as Devine Rebel aiming for. However, as the name suggests is the rebellious and thus different in its entirety. It is something more sparkling in the mouth than usual for the type. It is tasty and nice, but in my opinion not that type really like barley.

Old ass bottle from the rotter. Pours nearly flat with a murky dark brown color. Aroma of wet paper and dog hair. Dusty. Taste is like dried prune juice and molasses extract. This is almost as bad as triple bock. Lots of soy sauce with a gross sweetness. Blarfh

330 oz. bottle from DrSilverworm - thanks again, Chris! 2009 vintage. Pours a clear red color with some beige bubbles that stack along the edge. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, dried cranberries, soap, toast, tea, and boozy bread. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, malty, sugary, boozy, barely bitter mouthfeel. Delivers more complexity than expected.

Bottle at home, thanks to an IP trade with Harrisoni, 15/01/15. Rich chestnut brown with a decent tan swirl that soon dissipates edgeward. Nose is dark fruit rinds, bitter orange, dates, raisens, prunes, woody notes, toasted brown sugar, light booze. Taste comprises mellow dark fruits, light booze tunes, brown sugar, dates, plummy notes, sweet licks, rich caramel, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet licks and lightly warming alcohol in the close. Solid barley wine, alcohol is well hidden, age has likely knocked the sweet edge off a little, nice sipping juice.

What would happen if geniuses meet? Well, something like this, apparently: a partially barrel-aged barley wine with a yellowish head on a misty copper-coloured beer, with a complex, beautifully perfumed aroma of strawberry, cognac, banana, peat, oak, mango and honey and a sweetish caramelly and honeyishly malty taste, some toast, some wood, some smokiness, finishing with bitter but most of all, aromatic hops and warming, brandy-like, but not astringent alcohol. Simply said: Mikkeller and Brewdog collaborating could result in nothing less than a near-masterpiece...

Banana is your first thought followed by some very generous massaging silky quality throughout the taste and body. Some sap leading to the unmistakable dominant banana fritter end.

330ml bottle courtesy of Craig, never thought I’d get to try this, cheers! Pours opaque brown, no head. Aromas are oxidised sherry and whisky. Taste is more of the same. Astringent booze finish.

Bottle. Deep ruby with off white head. Aroma is oxidised, sherry fruits. Taste is a little harsh, sherry, dried fruit and toffee, biscuit. Sweet and tangy. Ok
