3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 degbert (669) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUL 31, 2011
TPSA. Pours a dark, dark brown with a cappuccino head and ring. Nose is coffee and spiced cider, with notes of brown sugar. Tastes a lot darker than it looks; smoky espresso and toast with a touch of sweetness. Finish is long and amazingly complex. It’s a ’just drink one’, but it’s good.

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar. Dark amber, red, clear liquid with medium off-white head. Malty, sweet aroma with notes of whisky, roasted malt, toffee, caramel, raisins and maybe some piney/sprucey hops. Taste is also sweet with medium-high bitterness with lots of roasty, bready, biscuity notes. Nice! Medium bodied with light carbonation. Overall, really pleasant BW. Great taste.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kdhittel (19) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUN 22, 2011
Bottle on 07/05/09, this Devine Rebel has had nearly two years in the bottle. Very little carbonation and no head, though this is fine actually. Fruity in aroma, there’s toffee and butterscotch, and raisins on the palate. Syrupy and for a 12% not much alcohol burn, though it is warm. As it’s warming up, it’s growing on me and growing in complexity. The hops still come through -- this barleywine is quite well balanced -- and add a nice spicy, herbal bitterness.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jesterdeal (565) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - JUN 4, 2011
Smells of figs and barley. Pours deep brown. Tastes much sweeter than it smells. Not too much bite from the whiskey. Has a nutmeg taste.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (7053) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 1, 2011
Alles in Allem: Gut! 7/12/12/11/10/11
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Drink4Satan (666) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 8, 2011
12 oz bottle served at 45F poured into a 10 oz snifter. Opaque burgundy with a dense, late-forming, yet quickly fading tan head produced from a vigorous pour. Vinous malts, vanilla, caramel, mild peat, oak and spruce characterize this boozy aroma. The alcohol is subdued up front but, it has a strong presence in the warming, woody finish. This is a very mellowed, drinkable barley wine, a style that is rarely characterized as such. Full-bodied, silken palate with a warming finish.

Bottle. Bronze and clear with no head and left no lacing. Massice presence of alcohol but not a lot of distinctive flavours. Some maltiness but really just a matter of sheer power and nothing much else.

bottle someone shared at the Black Sunday BA Tasting in Houston. Pours a cloudy brown with an off-white head. Nose is of fermented fruit and caramel. Taste is the same fermented fruit. and caramel. Mouthfeel was super-carbonated with alcohol burn noticeable.

Bottle @ Cask Pub and Kitchen in London. Pours a dark amber color with a small off white head. Aroma is of caramel, dried dark fruits, faint whiskey, along with a touch of smoke. Flavor is again very caramelly with alot of dried dark fruits, espceially raisins, along with the faint whiskey notes and molasses and some booze. The body is full with a creamy mouthfeel. Overall a pretty good Barley Wine, but I prefered it when I had it fresh.
