3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 willblake (2601) - Bel Air, USA - SEP 30, 2010
20100930 Bottle at Max’s, bottle from Honeygo. Well, I had already bought the Hoenygo bottle but not opened it when I was gifted so graciously a bottle to share with Chuck and Mark at Max’s a week ago. I didn’t care for it then. Tonight seemed like a good night to tuck into a strong beer, what with the flood and all, so what better time to re-visit and see if it was just skewed perception (I doubt it). This one is as attractive as any average IIPA, with a medium amber color, medium sized beige head of loose foam, and moderate lacing. Aroma is nougat, buttery biscuit, and caramel apple, with some background notes of pine and caramelized citrus. Actually not a very appealing aroma once it warms. palate is heavy and coating, which works okay because the carbonation is fairly eager. Flavor isn’t all that sweet, but it’s thick and coating in a way that’s kind of cloying. The 4 oz sample I had at Max’s was more than enough, and I only drank half of this bottle before discarding the rest. Kind of a let down, only, I guess, because I was expecting a lot. The label, by the way, is one of the best I’ve ever seen.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jhamp9 (366) - Corinth, Texas, USA - MAY 27, 2012
On tap at Strangeways. Pours a hazy dark orange with a cream colored head. Big aroma of grapefruit, peach, and pine. Fruit and pine in the flavor as well but with a lot of caramel sweetness. Really nice bitterness. Creamy texture. Very good.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 AshtonMcCobb (934) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 25, 2012
33cl bottle. Pours a beautiful amber-red with gentle but steady bubbles and a nicely proportioned head. The nose has fresh pine with a hint of grapefruit pith. The taste has a big earthy thing going on - maybe parsnip with dried apricot. The palate is at least medium bodied and has a big creamy and tangy texture through the middle and a long bitter finish. Overall, a well executed imperial IPA which is surprisingly balanced.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 nsquishee (372) - Richfield, Minnesota, USA - MAY 22, 2012
A very complex dIPA that lingers into the category of an English Imperial IPA mixed with a barley wine. Very deep malting from the BrewDog Hardcore IPA and the strong citrus notes from the "I Beat You" and extra hopping. Expect a pleasantly dry, crisp, and lemony finish. Definitely a wonderfully hop journey for your taste buds.
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 BeerSquare (23) - - MAY 18, 2012
I really love this beer. . . absolutely amazing balance between hoppy flavors, numerous distinct fruity / sweet accents, and candied malt base.
There are other beers that capture the airy bubblegum flavor or the creamy caramel flavor, but I can’t think of another beer that brings them all together so nicely.
Also, surprisingly drinkable for the potency. I was actually shocked to see it’s 9.5 here, I would have guessed 8, 8.5.
Bonus: Sidle up to your better half and seductively reveal the lable of the beer to them. It works surprisingly well.

bottled, xmas day 2010 drinks with skykob and mowbeer. a clear orange with a modest head; big juicy aroma of pine and grapefruit with hints of freshly mown grass and green peppercorns; very sweet with some mango and pineapple and a somewhat predictable tangy bitter finish. enjoyable but didn’t really stand out in the middle of an impressive line-up
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3386) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Sampled on draft at The House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a large creamy orange-white head that left incredible lacing. The aroma was bitter and tangy pine and grapefruit. The flavor was sweetish and tangy with a strong pine presence and notes of bitter grapefruit, pineapple, table sugar and light notes of bread, caramel and herbal hops. The finish was very long and tangy with lingering pineapple and grapefruit. Full bodied and thick. Excellent.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 after4ever (4500) - Brier, Washington, USA - MAY 14, 2012
12-oz. Thanks B! Pours a cloudy orange dark amber with a big creamy tan head. Mild lacing. Big fresh grapefruit and blood orange nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Grapefruits and blood oranges on the mid palate, along with toast and caramel. Very crisp, fresh, bright, and acidic hop bite, but beautifully integrated and harmonious overall.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 sebletitje (4391) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAY 8, 2012
33cl bottle courtesy of and shared with _angst_
