COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
keg and bottled, special
An epic fusion of age old Belgian tradition, American new wave brewing and the world of Scotch whisky.
Mix Tape 8 is a blend of two huge oak aged beers – half a hopped up Belgian Tripel, and half a Triple India Pale Ale. These beers have both been aged in single grain whisky barrels for close to two years and finally blended to create a beer that our head brewer Stewart Bowman can most helpfully describe as ‘fucking complex’.
Mix Tape 8 is a high octane blend of styles, influences and processes. This beer is a blend of 2 huge oak aged India Pale Ales. Half of this beer is rooted in an amped up, hopped up Belgian Tripel which has been aged in Scotch Whisky casks for almost 2 years. The other half of the equation is a triple India Pale Ale which has also been aged in Scotch Whisky barrels for close to 2 years. This beer is inspired by the Belgian Monastic brewing tradition and its centuries of heritage, the hopped up American new wave craft brewing and everything that rocks about Scotch Whisky barrels and oak aging.

Fancy 330ml bottle in a box from BrewDog Online Store. Medium orange brown, reasonable head. Big sweet grassy glue aroma. Very sweet whiskey barley sugar flavour. Strong sweet alcohol aftertaste. Not my sort of beer.

Lore (1113) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 24, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2013 dark amber colour, minimal brownish off-white head; very complex aroma of pine resin, raisin, caramel, biscuit, wood, spices and some whiskey; taste of intensive sweetness (candy sugar, caramel, and raisin), and bitterness (pine resin) with whiskey- and wood notes, as well as herbal liqueur - very complex beer, but a bit too much for me; definitely not for everyday ’use’

33cl bottle, shared @Kaisla 30.11.2013. Poured mahogany, clear, no head. Strong dark fruity aroma with toffee, wood, sweetness and alcohol. Flavor has raisins, toffee, hops, wood, mild smokey notes. Full bodied, oily and sticky. Long warming sweet toffee finish. Complex and heavy stuff. Could well try this again.

Its a little all over the place, for something that is so strong you would expect it be a big full on badboy but it just does not cut the mustard. Fruit pie with added sherry or whisky, it lacks depth to make it great
