330 ml bottle.
Pours an amber colour with a slightly off-white head. Aroma of heavy sweet English toffee, raisins, wood, weak vanilla notes and whisky. Rich flavour of heavy sweet maltiness, wood, vanilla, grassy bitterness, orange juice, spruce, burnt sugar and some herbal notes. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Alcohol comes through too much. For those with a sweet tooth.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 31, 2014 Re-rate 31/01/2014. Lot more complexity starting to come out, including the barrel and some Belgian yeast notes. Getting better...
330ml bottle from Appellation Wines - cheers Ash! For all the blurb, we’re in pretty standard US-barley wine or Double IPA territory here. Fresh citrus hop aromas disguise any other subtleties that might be there from the Tripel end of the mix, or even from the barrel aging. I’m not finding it as sweet as some of the other reviewers, and think it’s quite well-balanced, if not ’all that’. Got a few stashed away, so might re-rate if it improves with age.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at BrewDog Stockholm, November 2013.
Amber with a small head. A lot of malt in this one with interesting undertones of hops. Also dried fruit, wood and some notes of hay. The body was full and the mouthfeel oily. The finish was long and with warming alcohol. A beer to sip in peace.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at William K Kurvi, 20131109) The beer poured deep mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had vanilla, wood, malts and sweetness. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were wood, vanilla, malts, sweetness, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, boozy and bitter. An interesting brew but not really a good one.
