3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Draught at BrewDog Camden, London, 21 Nov 2012) Black colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, grapefruit and resin. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, pine needles and a dry finish with a generous citric/resinous bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. The fairly low abv makes this highly drinkable. Very nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg, BrewDog Brum, 12/12/12. Tar with a slim, fine lacing nicotine foam. Liquorice and Neopolitan aroma. Good fruity blackcurrant and lemon hop finely dusted with bitter chocolate and carob. Tasty, although eye-wateringly expensive (and cold).

On tap at Brewdog Brum (hoorah). Toasty, roasty hoppy dark ale. Really nice fizz and flavour. Outstanding for session strength.

26th November 2012
Brewdog Shoreditch. Opaque dark brown beer. Tidy tan head. Palate is crisp and a little dry. Pleasant dark malts - not too heavy and with a light touch of roast. Finishes softer and slightly earthy with a little hop bitterness coming through. Decent beer. I thought it was a porter though! Not that hoppy for a Black IPA

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg @ BrewDog, Aberdeen
Dark brown with a rich tan head
Aroma - soft grassy hops, slight aromatic hops, mellow roasted malts
Taste of soft roast, soft grassy hops. some plain chocolate
Palate - medium carb, thin to medium body. Bit too fizzy. Finish as main flavour with some soft roast grassy chocolate
Overall - Not a complex beer. Wasn’t an BIPA, more a stout with some grassy hops. Too fizzy on keg. Stout’s simply don’t work on keg below a minimum of 6.5%

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg BrewDog Camden. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is pine, caramel, cola, roasted malt, coffee grinds, wood and bitter chocolate. The taste is bitter chocolate, coffee grinds, burnt notes, earth, tobacco, pine, roasted malt and the faintest hint of soy sauce with a very dry, bitter finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather drinkable. A tasty lower-abv BrewDog offering.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Brewdog Camden. It pours a very dark brown colour with a small tanned head that sticks around. Aroma is roasted malts, light coffee notes and toasted bread. Aroma is mostly bitter with roasted and toasted notes and little coffee flavour. Body is medium with good carbonation. Overal, this tasted to me like a pretty easy-going stout. No IPA qualities to me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at BrewDog Camden on 25th November 2012. Intensely black with rosy tan head and fair lacing. Rich coffee aroma with plenty of roast malts. Tangy grapefruit hops in mouth harmonise well with the roastiness, and merge into a tangy, roasty finish. Zingy mouthfeel and medium bodied. Well crafted beer and deserving of its high mark.
