4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2011
On tap at BrewDog Camden. midnight black beer with thin tan head. Very roasty aroma. Lots of burnt dark chocolate. Then in mouth its a smoothish intense stout with roasted edges. It has a certain intense roast and fullness that is pretty endearing. Went really well with the burger. Spicy on finish. Likeable.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 madmitch76 (6173) - , Essex, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2011
14th December 2011 On tap at the Brewdog Camden. Opaque black beer, good tan head. Softish palate with mild carbonation. Minerals. Smooth dark malt with a little cream. The Wasabi is obvious but blends in surprisingly well as you get mostly wasabi flavour without the nostril lining stripper effect of the real thing! The barman correctly pointed out that as the beer gets toward room temperature there is more of a horseradish vibe going on. Softish finish with a trace of licorice. Interesting beer and I hope the behemoth that Brewdog is becoming never lose their experimental side.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 shoulderbroken (587) - Tokyo, JAPAN - DEC 14, 2011
Keg at Brewdog Camden. Dark brown with beige almost gold head with very small bubbles. Aroma is very meaty and a bit of smoke. Given the description as a Wasabi stout I thought I could smell something like Wasabi peas, but this may have just been the suggestion. Very savory though. Taste is smoky, spicy and with a bit of coffee. Gives a real prickle in the mouth. Touch of vanilla creaminess too. Is this somehow Alice Porter related? Further down the glass started getting a lot more Wasabi spiciness. Nice and smooth in spite of the prickle. Full bodied and slightly oily. Finish is coffee bitter with spiciness. Very nice and made the inside of my nose itch a little bit, which was interesting.

Keg at Brewdog bar, Aberdeen. It pours opaque black, with thick tan head. The nose is meat, soy sauce, salted caramel and a hint of wasabi (but not obvious). The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, metal, meat, soy sauce, chocolate, salted caramel, smoke and seaweed, with a dry-roasted finish. Wasabi not initially noticeable, but presents itself towards the finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Umami all over. Interesting.
