COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our special export-strength lager is brewed with the finest miso, 100% Sorachi Ace hops and sky blue Scottish spring water, then conditioned with hand-toasted walnuts. Finally, we age it on real apples in Bourbon barrels for a smooth, rich, satisfying flavor. Perfect for fishing or camping, watching the game, or relaxing at home, enjoying the exquisite solace of self-imposed isolation from an increasingly disjointed reality. Long time BrewDog friend and chef, Tim Anderson, Masterchef 2011 winner, collaborated with us to produce this export strength lager.

11.3% from Rakuten. It pours a dark brown with virtually no head. A bit of wine, chocolate aroma. The flavor is a bit like a tripel or quadruple but on a dark malt base which gives you a mild roast coffee/chocolate taste. Easy to drink with some warming. A pretty good beer but at around 1000 yen a bottle too pricey. I just love the name & the label!

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours an almost clear brown with an orange hue and a creamy beige head. Thick Bourbon aroma atop quite some rich pumpernickel. Rich, malty body, nuts, caramel and pumpernickel with lovely Bourbon accents and some whiskey heat. My kinda beer! 050413

Really unusual. Apples on the nose, bourbon taste, smooth as though. Sorachi faint. Walnut tingle on the finish.

330ml Bottle from Brewdog.com (£5.49):
Strong chocolate aroma with lots of licorice and rich malts as well as some sweetness and a oak like, light whiskey smell. It is quite light and I could detect some vanilla too.
Black with the slightest of red tinges shinning through and a very thin and bubbly, off-white to brown coloured head that more of a patchy lacing.
Rich and chocolaty with a lot of alcohol coming through as well as some strong licorice flavours and a lot of grain. There is some chocolate malts and an earthy spice taste to the beer along with that lingering alcohol feel.
Medium to full bodied and very spicy with a rich, alcohol laced middle. Carbonation is almost non-existent and there is some grain and rich bitterness too.

Not a bad beer, although the fact that is measures in at well over ten percent means it’s not going to be one I have very often if at all again. It was a nice beer and highly drinkable but it was one that your really have to savour and take your time over. Pretty good although nothing spectacular.

0.33l bottle from BrewDog webshop. This is a deep dark brown one with a small somewhat bubbly and kinda sidesticking beige top. On the nose it’s sweet and it oozes of licorice! Lovely. Also there is a salty beefy thing here with dark malts, biscuits and some wood blended with soft vanilla extract. Smells quite nice this puppy. It has an average carbonation level and a thick oily mouthfeel. Yeah this is a punchy little squirrel, but I still have to admit that the alcohol is shockingly well disguised. The licorice is so present and just fills the whole mouth. Again slightly salty and dark malty. Not to much sweetness going on here as I might would have expected. Slightly nutty, yes, and in the aftertaste a chili warming sensation is warming the back of my throat - all so integrated with an beautiful bourbon-woody touch. The warming chili actually reminds me of the feeling I had the first time I tasted Mikkellers Texas Ranger. Quite a nice sipper this. 23.12.2012
