200ml in Good Beer Faucets, Shibuya. Very dark brown reddish at edges, off white small foam head. Nose is roasted malt, some dark fruit, and ale fruitiness with a bit of fortified wine. Taste is an old ale but it’s got a bit of a kick and too many flavours going on. There’s a distinctive port wine kick with ale fruitiness, raisins, prunes. A bit of liquorice in there too. This is very much a sipper and not too much to my liking. Also has a buttery margarine like aftertaste which ain’t too pleasant.

Can’t decide if this is rank or quite nice. Certainly interesting but a big whack of alcohol which is quite off putting ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Euston Tap. It pours very dark ruby, with a decent off-white head. The nose is roasted malt, dark fruit and chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, meat, smoke, miso, caramel, salted liquorice, burnt tire, herbal and filter coffee, with a dry roasted finish. Full body, very high carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Flavoursome and quirky, but the balance isn’t quite there for me.

Off tap at the Sheffield tap. Pours thick black. Just really nice, miso soup, coffee, a slight smoky flavour and a great treacle texture.

Dark ruby tinged beer with tight cream head. Aroma of bubble from sorachi and faint savour note. Very full texture, sweet with hay, slight vegetable note, spicy on the tongue and Marmite chocolate finish. Need some sushi now!

Keg at Euston Tap. Pours dark like a black IPA. Small beige head doesn’t last long. Aroma is very unusual, I guess because of the miso. Very savoury and spicy, but with a tiny bit of that Sorachi Ace bubble gum taste. Feels quite boozy, and prickly. Towards the end I started tasting a strange spicy chocolate milk. Not sure if this exists. Aftertaste is definitely miso and nice bitter coffee-like finish. Great beer!

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2011 Keg at Euston Tap, London. Pours black-brown with a creamy, off-white cap. Lots of sweet, dark chocolate malts in the nose. Slight milk chocolate. Big sweet flavor, some brown sugar, medium roast malts, subtle alcohol. Full bodied, chewy and creamy, with fine carbonation. Warm finish, some woody booze, maybe some sherryesque notes, bit of roasted, almost burnt malts. More chocolate. Great stuff.

Very black pour, nice thin tan head that slowly fades to a film. Big coffee nose, some ovaltine malts, cocoa too. Palate is big and roasty, cocoa and liquorice with a really lovely salty/meaty/misplaced streak. Really, really good beer. Zeitgeist on steroids, totally my kind of thing.

On keg at the BrewDog Bar, Edinburgh. A Tim Anderson beer. A black beer with a lacy tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and yeast. Flavours of coffee, chocolate, Ovaltine malted milk, raosty malt and burnt toast. A bitter finish with low carbonation and CO2 prickle. A little thin with a very long salty liquoric strap / miso finish which I like!
