And this time it is all about the beer, and the beer is awesome! Gone are the 200+ IBUs which brought grown men to tears! Our new Nanny State is 0.5% ABV and focuses on being a great drink as opposed to a great publicity ploy. This beer is now focussed on getting all that is good about BrewDog into a practically alcohol free format. It is a West Coast inspired pale ale with a difference!

The beer has 45 IBUS and is brewed with centennial, amarillo, columbus, cascade and simcoe and intensively dry-hopped with centennial and amarillo. The backbone is provided by 8 different types of speciality malts with only 87 kilos of malt used in a 20HL batch (our Punk IPA uses 450 kilos in 20HL).

Bottle, 0.5%. Roasted malty aroma. Clear chestnut colour. Small frothy off-white head. The flavour is roasted and malty with a good faintly rough bitterness.

For a low alcohol beer, this is great. More of an infusion than a beer. All about the hops. Some hints of smoked tea in there.

Clear amber, airy offwhite head. Aroma has hops, a little earthy perhaps. Good bitterness, otherwise pretty watery.

Beska, bitterhet. Nästa lite kaffe toner?!

A splendid low alcohol beer. Although the taste is a bit watery, the hops are quite delicious!

Drunk from 33cl bottle bought at Malting Pot, Brussels. Enjoyable bitter hoppy alcoholic free beer. Slightly watery but very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2016 UPDATE: Malt profile got enhanced and has more toasty impressions making it not so intense on the hop bittereness anymore and adds more to be a quaffer! FORMER: Amber in colour wi a dark white frothy head. Noses mainly of citrus and floral hops with a hint of bready malts. The texture is soft and clearly the hop flavours are predominant. Interesting since most beers in this ABV range have a focus on the malt. The taste is light sweet and bitter and the hop predominates which makes the body very light. Here some more malt could have prepped up the body which would be more to my personal liking. The finish is rather short offering some more floral notes. Different!

Bottle - Reddish amber color with a small and fast disappearing white head, good lacing - Aroma is resinous, piny, citrusy, mango, hints of malt - Flavor is malty, citrusy and resinous - light body, medium bitterness, dry and wattery, good carbonation, resinous bitter finish - hoppy juice with hints of alcohol

Amber clear looks with nice looking head on top. Lots of lacing sticking to the glass. Aroma has grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruits, pines and some caramel. Taste has lots of grapefruit and pines, but this is a bit too hoppy to be in balance. And it could have been more fresh. Of course the mouth feel is very light, but the hops and carbonation makes it a bit smoother. A very good performance in a very hard style. Props to BrewDog, again.
