And this time it is all about the beer, and the beer is awesome! Gone are the 200+ IBUs which brought grown men to tears! Our new Nanny State is 0.5% ABV and focuses on being a great drink as opposed to a great publicity ploy. This beer is now focussed on getting all that is good about BrewDog into a practically alcohol free format. It is a West Coast inspired pale ale with a difference!

The beer has 45 IBUS and is brewed with centennial, amarillo, columbus, cascade and simcoe and intensively dry-hopped with centennial and amarillo. The backbone is provided by 8 different types of speciality malts with only 87 kilos of malt used in a 20HL batch (our Punk IPA uses 450 kilos in 20HL).

Pours a chestnut colour with a thin white head. Decent enough hoppy smell. Taste is a bit like sparkling water, not for me.

Bottle. What a great aroma! What a horrible taste! The former is citric with lots of lychee and oranges, slightly grassy as well. No trace of the nauseating aroma of unfermented worthat usually makes nonalko beers so bad. But as for the taste, it is reminiscent of bitter water. Surprisingly, the aroma fades while drinking, so the beer comes across almost devoid of flavour. Also, the bitterness is a bit harsh, directed at the center of the throat and almost only there. Bad stuff but good looking and with a great aroma.

Bottle at SlutFest 2011 on 04/23/2011. Clear golden amber body with a small frothy off white head. Big floral and resiny hop aroma. Big floral and resiny hop flavor with some earthy notes. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

33cl bottle. The beer is brown with medium head. NOSE : strong citrus aromas of zest, pomelo, lemon and grapefruit. Pine and lavender aromas as well. It has also a tart like background. SIP : the beer is as thick as water and has the same texture. Delicately carbonated. There is almost nothing sweet about it. It has a very distanced brown toast like flavour to it. A bit sour and very bitter. Bitterness covers almost all the flavour spectrum till the end. And the end is fairly long for this kind of beer. Aftertaste is mineral and bitter. The bitterness has this herbal deepness, mixed a bit with citrus seeds. There is also a little hint of burned malt in the background. OVERALL ; very narrow taste but what a hop bomb. I prefer this millions times more then a lemonade.

(Bottle): Pours a dark amber with a small off white head. Subdued aroma of citrus fruits, malt, caramel. Flavour is relatively hoppy, citrus fruits, caramel, malt. Touch of bitterness gives it a nice kick. It’s a good effort for such a low abv, was expecting much worse.

330 ml bottle. Clear, dark amber color, short-life medium off-white head, caramel and grassy hoppy aroma, light watery body, smooth fizziness, sweet creamy caramel taste, decent grassy and citric hoppy bitter palate with toffee notes. A little bit chewy brew.
