COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nanny State is mild imperial ale containing more hops per barrel than any other beer ever brewed in the UK. It is an extraordinary little ale jammed full of all the brewer’s favourite hops giving it as much body and mouthy feel as possible, ensuring that low strength does not translate into reduced flavour. Nanny State, takes the low ABV hop-bomb concept to the next level and is so low in alcohol it is below the legal classification of beer and not strong enough to be subject to beer duty. We believe we have created a new beer category - The Imperial Mild - with Nanny State and How to Disappear Completely.

Bottle 33cl. @ home.
[ Trade by cgarvieuk ]. Clear dark amber color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light heavy malty, caamel, heavy hoppy, pine, grpafruit. Initial flavor is light moderate sweet and heavy to harsh bitter, middle flavor is light moderate sweet and heavy to harsh bitter, finish flavor is heavy to harsh bitter with a long long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Amazing with so much flavor / hop in a low alcohol beer, but it is not easy - smooth and slightly unpalatable. [20091120]

Ungstrup (23959) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 26, 2010
Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge fluffy tan head. The aroma has notes of hops lending it citrusy and floral notes combined with quite strong notes of caramel, bread, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes malt, caramel, and astringent hop alfa acids, leading to an extremely bitter finish. The watery body is thin. A bit too much for me.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a clear deep amber with a small off-white head leaving laces. Intense citrusy hop aroma with some caramel. Thin, thin body, caramel and lovely citrusy hops. Amazing hop burn burn in the finish. Nice one. 161209

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and hazzlenut brown golden with a thick tan head. Aroma is peachy and pinewood hoppy. Bone dry and dry wooden flavoured, light liqourice too. No malt base to back this up. Lingering and dry and peachy fruity into the far finish. I’m lacking some body to match the hops. Hopssoup more than anything. But a tasty one.

Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Amber colour with mediumsized white fluffy/foamy head. Aroma is big time fruity and flowery hops. Flavour is fruity and flowery hops which turns quite grassy and bitter in the finish. This beer proves, that you can brew good low alcohol beers as well...

Bottle at home. Clear red brown coloured with a medium sized beige head. Fruity aroma of hops, grass and pine needles. Fruity flavour of pine needles, citrus and grass with notes of ash tray. Hoppy finish, but light watery.

Bottle, 1.1%. Good sweet, caramelly and piney aroma, good American hops. Clear dark amber colour. Good stable tan head. The flavour is nicely hoppy, good caramel. A bit thin mouthfeel, though. Tastes terrific, but could use more body. How to achieve that without making it sweeter is the question, though.

fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - JAN 8, 2010
Dark ruby color; small head. Wonderful hop aroma, very fruity, mango, oranges; but also very light and sweet malt and very light cheese. Weak body, dry caramel flavor, dry resins, extremely dry mouthfeel, therefore too astringent; also aggressive roasted malt, dry and burnt of course; harsh palate. Extreme bitterness.
Nice aroma but unpleasant flavor.

Clear amber with a medium off white head. Loads of hops in the aroma along with grapefruits and roasted malt. Finished bitter.

Dedollewaitor (10292) - Odense, DENMARK - NOV 29, 2009
Bottle @ Hj Hansen, Odense. Pours amber/reddish with a creamy lasting white head and lacings. Nose is pine, citrus and grapefruit. Low carbonation and a bit thin and watery palate - smooth however. Taste is again citrus and pine - aggresively hoppy. Interesting indeed though the body of course is weak!
