Bottle, 15.2% batch. Pours pitch black liquid with small crema-like head. Aroma is full of strong coffee, roasted malt, licorice and alcohol. Taste is starts chocolate sweet, goes little alcoholic with salt accent, ends berry sweet. Beer has full body with velvety texture, softly carbonated. Long, warm caramel and alcohol finish. One of the most complex beer I’ve ever tasted, perfectly balanced, yet unusual, taste.

the absolutely most complex taste ever tasted, Full body, complex imperial stout aroma and taste. the 15% abv was enough to make you enjoy as a really good drink and not just simply "one more beer"

This is the 15.2% version. Pitch black with a nice brown head.Smells heavy of coffe, liqorice and some alcohol. Taste is intense and long lasting. Coffe, liqorice and alcohol here too among other things. All togheter one of the best imp.stouts i’ve tasted. This one outrates the nøgne version, but this one is 6 months since bottled. The nøgne edition was fresh. And it tasted way to much alcohol.

TET (2261) - Kaarina, FINLAND - DEC 7, 2013
Bottle from the second batch, abv. 15.2%. A pitch black beer with a medium, beautiful, brown head. The nose is powerfull as could be expected, roasted coffee, strong maltyness, lots of sweetness, strawberries and salt liquirice. The aroma is just great. Taste is strongly sweet, lots of roastiness, salt liquirice, power of alcohol in the middle, hint of berries. The end is long, roasted and throat warming. Full bodied, low carbonation, slightly sticky to drink. A total hybridmonster, but still tastefull. Lots of everything, also sweetness, but some kind of balance is still there.

"Vertical" tasting, as far as you can with beers that have only been brewed twice. The first batch, 17.2%, pours jet black, no head. Aromas of tobacco, freshly laid tarmac, leather, sweet. Taste is sweet too. Too sweet for me. Would make a decent dessert beer. 3.5. Second batch, 15.2%, pours jet black with a big thick tan head. Aromas much more chocolate and malty than batch 1, still sweet, but less tobacco and leather. Much more enjoyable. I think there’s a case for two separate listings for these beers. They are very different.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2013 I?ve had this in the cellar for over two years. The head disappeared immediately. Dark sugar aroma alongside dark berries; possibly currents. Shiraz wine. Tastes devine at first. Thick & rich...very rich! and very complex. This is certainly sweet, though I quite like this in this particular beer. Almost port. Madeira. Pudding. Noticeably not that Imperial stout dark roast like, as one might assume. All in all pleasant though probably best drunk after a nice meal. I?m ambivalent.

Bottle. Pitch black color with very light head. Aroma has sweetness: plums, vanilla, dark chocolate and bourbon. Taste very sweet, bourbon and vanilla. Dark chocolate, alcohol. Thick body and very interesting beer.

Impressive, but classic, aspect, pitch black with a small deep brown head that immediately disappears. Aromas to coffee, liquor, roasted malts, raisins, plums, burnt sugar...the mouthfeel is basically sweet, not balanced, with the same notes that the aroma. As the beer developes, new flavors arise, such as molasses, brown sugar, rhum or Porto wine. Long development, low or null carbonation, full bodied and a oily, viscous texture for a tremendous, overwhelming, colossal imperial stout. Wow!!!!!

Bottle from Systembolaget, 15,2 % ABV. Ar: rich as sin, heavy roastiness, ABV very noticable, chocolate, fruity, coffee, ash, Brown sugar, molasses, vanilla. Ap: black colour, medium, very creamy Brown head, lacing. T: heavy cloying sweetness, very much like Tokyo* which I did not care for, the refined flavourprofile of horizon and the brute force from black are not coming through, heavy saltiness, medium bite, very boozy. P: full bodied, soft carbonation, warming, salty and roasty finish. O: undoubtedly powerful, but as sophisticated as a fist in your face.

wow, a new taste at every temperature. New flavours constantly bubbling up when the beer goes from cold to a warmer state. I’m not the biggest fan of stouts but this is an truly amazing stout!
