Bottle, bought @ ølbutikken, cph.
Pours utterly deep black with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma is sweet, lots of dark chocolate, madeira, plums, vinious, light roasted, some soy sauce. A soft nutty and milky note. Low carbonation, fat and oily mouthfeel. Light dryness. Flavour is sweet at first, chocolate milk, nuts, soft roasted. Some fruity notes and quite vinious. Fairly dry, malty finish. Okay balanced.

Bottle from Brewdog online shop. Black colour, thin tan head. Lovely nose of roasted malts, coffee and dark fruits. Flavour of roasted malts, sweet almost sickly liquorice, sour fruits, milk chocolate. A bit messy and way too sweet to my liking. Needs time to age.

Pours a deep viscous black colour with a faint dark brown head. Sweet roasted malts and molasses in the aroma together with some notes of black berries, coffee and booze, great nose. Warm alcohol feel on the taste but not overwhealming. Hints of raisins, vanilla and figs. Heavy sweetness overall on the flavour and very complex. Full body, oily feel, flat carbonation and a long sweet liquor like finish. A very complex beer. Well done, but I don’t think that reflects the best of each brewery. But is definitely a must try!

Small to medium dark brown-beige head over pitch black beer. Nutty, alcohol, sweet roaste, faintly meaty, fusel-y nose. Sweet-bitter, quite roasted and again meaty. Alcohol in force retronasal and @ swallowing. Touch of saltiness, gravy-fried vegetables. Main flavours long-lasting, slowly fading. After some time, impression of charcoaled shrimps. Very well-bodied, fiery MF, slick to outright viscous. Impressive. As expected.

Doft: Tung!!! Smak: Söt kaffesump, fantastisk len och vinös - helt utan spår av alkohol. Sötman utveklas i munnen och skapar en helt fantastisk och lång eftersmak. Utomordentlig bra!

12 jan 2012, bottle. Very meaty nose! Full body, a bit sugary and syrupy, slightly fizzy. Gorgeous! Faint licorice, berries (not sure what kind) and molasses. Lovely. Alcohol is super hidden for 18%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Enjoyed and shared at Grünerløkka Bryghus
First of all it’s ridiculusly expensive. And the box is quite nice but quite cheap compared to the DH-metal boxes. Then let us rate this baby... Pours black, almost no head. Smells of soy sauce, liquorice, chocolate and malts. Super malty body, tons of sweetness. Lots of flavors from chocolate and liquorice here as well. Very oily palate. Very very smooth. Feels almost like port. Very excuisite indeed. Finish has a delicate and simple bitterness. This is sure a very nice imperial stout. And the alcohol is sooo well hidden

Bottle. Poursjet black with bronze tinges dowm the side of the glass. Only the smallest of tan coloured heads that disappears almost immediately. Huge nose shows heaps of licorice, sweet dark caramel, vanilla and roasted grain. Brilliant. Taste is amazing. Sickly sweet with bucket loads of marmalade and roasted grain. Super complex amd silky smooth. Very full mouthfeel. Brilliant beer.

33cl bottle. Pours opaque black with a very tiny head. The nose is a massive attack of liquorice. The taste has liquorice again and not much else, but the note is massive. The palate is huge in structure, it has the texture of crude oil and although it is difficult for 17.2% beer to clean, there does seem to be a relative falling off at the end, but it’s very long. Overall, I like this a lot.

Shared bottle, thanks to my beerpal Kim. Pours pitch black with no head at all. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee, leather. Taste is strong dark malts, oily and vinous mouthfeel, some vanilla, chocolate, really delicious and sweet. A sipper good as any.
