Bottle. Black with no head. Aroma of dark fruit, some coffee, licorice, dark chocolate, notes of alcohol, soy and some calvados. The taste was sweet and heavy but still very drinkable. Hardly any notes of alcohol in the taste. I wonder how this will taste about 3-4 years or so from now?

Bottle. Pours black with 0 head. Smells good. Tastes impressive. Vanilla, oak. Treacle. So thick. So alcoholic. Quite remarkable.

330ml bottle @ Patricks. Black body with a thin, brown film on top. Nice, strong aroma of sweet, black malt, strong coffee, fruity hops, roast, candy sugar and hot alcohol. Flavor is very sweet, but still balanced against the bitterness and alcohol. Lots of sweet malt, dry fruit, bitter hops, coffee and burning hot alcohol. Full body and never ending aftertaste. A really big beer, lots of strong flavors, still amazingly good balanced and surprisingly quaffable. I feel that I could find traces of all three brews here but most of Dark Horizon, maybe because this is the one I have drunk most of. It’s better than DH2 and close to DH1, God knows what some months in the cellar might do with this one. Ridiculous expensive, but after drinking this I’m tempted to say it’s a priceless experience. Need more.

Thanks to Paolo for the bottle. Pours thick and black like oil. Nose has much of the high alc Chocolate from dark horizon and some of the cranberry from tokio. I don’t get much of the black. But perhaps it will come out when it warns. Definitely complex. Mouthfeel is pure silk ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 20, 2012 Pours black with very frizzy low head that disappers after a couple of seconds. Aromas of coffee, brown sugar, dades, figs and alcohol. Palate is fantastic. Taste is a lot of sugar, some alcohol, coffee. It’s a very pleasant and fine tuned imperial stout that is much better than both Brewdog Tokyo and Nögne Ö Dark Horizon!

33 cl bottle. Batch #057. BBE 20.07.2021.
Pours pitch black colour with small head that dissipates very rapidly. Aroma of tar, vanilla, mild oak notes, chocolate, mild berry notes, some ash, mocha-like cacao, soy and strong sugar candy. Flavour of sugar candy, caramel, toffee, ripe fruit notes, soy, chocolate, some cocoa and mild honey. Very nice aroma with no notes of alcohol whatsoever, but sadly it can be found on the flavour. Way too sweet a palate with a dense, oily texture. Would have preferred this as DH3 instead of the actual.

33 cl bottle @ home. #057, bottled 20.07.2021 (sic)
Aroma is dry with smoke, licorice and vanilla. Flavour is sweetish with oaky notes, vanilla, licorice, soy sauce and warming alcohol. Sugary feeling in aftertaste. Really sticky and sweet stuff. Could be better after some years in a cellar.

330 ml bottle. BBE 20.7.2021.
Pours a pitch black colour with a beautiful brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, vanilla, oak, peat. Excellent aroma really. Flavour of roasted malts, sweet sugar, soy sauce and strong salty licorice. Loads of residue sugar. Full bodied, sticky mouthfeel and a long, warming, salty finish. This really needs to age more because of the residue sugar. I’d love to taste this after 2-3 years.
