[330ml bottle, gift from my lovely wife - thank you!] Pours black with brown hints and a dark brown head. Big dark chocolate aroma. Chocolate, plums, port and leather in the taste with a growing roasted malt bitterness in the finish. Pretty decent stuff, although somehow lacked a really big "wow" factor to take it into the big league.

What a beer..next to the Tokyo by itself) this killed it in all areas. Complex and well integrated, I think this rightfully shouldn’t be considered a blend, but a rich, wholesome Impy with a ton of depth and balls to match. Big nose jumps out of the glass. Too many impy stout flavours to list, but the it has to be said the alcohol is really well hidden.

Reasonable priced bottle, brought home from Kihoskh, København. Throws a sinfully black body. Magohny edges when holding it up to the light. Naked surface. Initial aroma of aceton, reminiscent of nail polish remover. Then a whiff of heavily roasted malts, fortified wine, and some mellowing chocolate. Full body, very flavorful. Alcohol is noticable, not disturbing. Big malt body. Sweet, a nicely refined sweetness. If not heavy, well roasted dark malts, along with a balancing hop bitterness. Palate-coating. Sweet warm roasty ending. A nice beer experience.

09-NOV-2012, bottle from Ølbutikken, @Ulkløbben meeting @my place. Black with no head. Sweet roast. Coffee. Does Tokyo* not have peat’y elements? I find none here. Quite sweet. Is that hte Horizon infuence? Low carbonation, alcoholic but not really 17% alcoholic. Lovely drink.

In short: A thick monster black ale showing some complexity and unexpected hoppiness. A nice sipper
How: Bottle at Café Laundromat, Oslo Norway
The look: Black body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose has a truckload of blackened malts, light chocolaty notes and not so much alcohol. Inviting aroma I must say, something I rarely get from monster beers. Taste is also a truckload of blackened malts,, molasses, chocolate coated black cherries, some tobacco, some soy sauce, notes of port wine, a surprising strong green hops bitterness. I could actually name more flavor elements, there was quite a bit of complexity in this monster. The bitterness is reminiscent of a fresh Mikkeller Black which was so far the only monster beer I had which was somewhat hop-forward. Body is thicker than thick and the carbonation is appropriately relaxed. Some alcohol heat of course but a lot less than expected from a 17% monster. Not gonna say this is an easy to drink beer, it is obviously a sipper, took me almost 1h to drink my 330ml bottles, but I never got sick of it. A collaboration between three breweries based on their revolutionary beers (Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon, Mikkeller Black and BrewDog Tokyo*) but I call bullshit on all so-called "revolutionary" beers that seem perfectly happy to be sold within our existing capitalist system.

Komplex och fruktig doft. Smaken är även den komplex. Mäktig med stor kropp. Har blivit sötare sedan jag testade den 2011. Tveksamt att den vinner på längre lagring ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour pitch black, with a very small (almost none) tan head. Aroma of finish licorice, liqour, vanilla, dark and rumsoaked fruits, candied apples, kalua(?), boose, salty licorice as well. Alot of funny stuff going on in here. The taste is pretty sweet, but not overwhelming, and also a heavy dose of dry bitterness at the end. Sticky and oily body, with more carbonation than expected. Quite well made.

Bottle thanks to kermis for bringing !

Head: Dark espresso when poured but away ever so fast !

Colour: Black
Smell: Sweet, molasses, hint of licquorice and candy sirup, very sweet boozey, oaky and vanilla, nothing really coffee, or chocolat, tough. Taste: start is very sweet with some irony and woody notes, next thing is somewhat smokey/ashy with some small coffee notes and a little flavour of candy, molasses, somewhat salty and nuty, end is oily sweet, aftertaste is bitter and mouthdrying due to the alcohol, good Strenghtend Impy tough !
