4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
15.2% bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This jet-black beer pours with a thin creamy tan head. It has an initial super-powerful chocolate and liquorice flavour with roasted coffee, currants and cherries followed by smoked beech, leather and a creamy, fruity, powerfully warming bitter chocolate finish. Superb!

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Najlepsze piwo jakie piłem, do momentu oceniania.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from cellar, first batch. Pours a thick pitch black liquid with a deep brown head that fizzes away pretty quick. Aroma is complex with lots of dark fruits, dark chocolate, booze, wood, little soy, smooth, sweet. Smells good! Taste: soooo rich, very complex profile. Sweet with a well hidden alcohol for its %. Hints of raisins, chocolate, soy, figs, vanilla. Really good stuff and has held up well since I had it some years ago.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle thanks to Christian. Pours a pitch black color, very viscous, a wonderful large brown head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is predictable huge for the ABV with smoke, molasses, dark fruit and sugars. The flavor is intense: sugary malts, coconut, oily, a bit of mango, huge coffee and vanilla. The super over the top sweetness is mixed with smoke and more tropical sticky elements. Quite good. Cranberries and mango mixed in tobacco and leather. Hmm, sounds like a metal band or a gay bar name. Anyway, it’s good. The heat and intensity is rough, so maybe a bomber would be a bit much. Maybe.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle at home. Pitch black (!) colour, beige foamy head. Intense nose and taste with chocolate, coffee and liquorice tones and big alcohol warmth dominating the flavour, along with dried fruits like dades, figs and cherries, roasted creamy maltsand a tropical fruity hoppy freshness and bitter punch that nicely comes through the pounding porter tones. Sweet and bitter notes fight against three high alcohol grade: complex. Lingering sweet and bitter aftertaste with coffee and fruity notes lasting long. Imperial black IPA would be more appropriate. Medium carbonation, oily thick mouthfeel, big big body.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, shared by Hamp at Ale Alpharetta. Black, with a ring of dark brown lacing. Immediate and aggressive nose of booze (bourbon or rum...), espresso, toast, and some coconut. VERY heavy body, silky, creamy, and very thick. This is quite a monster of a beer. A lot of burnt character, but balanced and actually tasty. Overly boozy, and not as deep or complex as I’d like from a beer of this ABV and pedigree, but still an outstanding beer.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a rich oily sable - not much head, but this was a short pour. Aroma fills the nose with molasses, roast malt, caramel, and a bit of coffee. Bold flavor trots roast malt, molasses, coffee, miso, caramel and licorice tones across the palate. It is sweet but not cloying. Texture is thick and viscous, if not too fizzy. Oh no, there goes Black Tokyo, go go BrewDogzilla!
