Bottle thanks to Martin who bought me this as part of my Best Man/his wedding beer bag. Came from Bottle Shop in Canterbury. Black as black with no head. Even swirling it, I’m getting no head. Tarry, roasty, liquorice, molasses aroma. There’s a smoked thing that is rather good. Flavour is a lot of molasses, fig and prune. Lots of chocolate. As good as Dark Horizon? No. As good as Black? Definitely no. Good idea, good collab. It’s interesting, and yes gave me enjoyment. Some heat from the alcohol. Interesting and drinkable, but maybe not the best sum of the parts.

Bottle, batch #102. Aroma is dark licorice, dark red fruits, dark coffee mocca, leather, tobacco, dark caramel, dark chocolate. Black with red, brown head. Heavy sweetness, light bitter, taste is meat, liver, porcini, licorice, very dark chocolate, hints of cocoa, vanilla, oak. Full body, soft carbonation, oily texture, long finish with some bitterness, warm alcohol. Insane and delicious.

Bottle, shared at the Earth Eagle. This does justice to all three of its constituent parts -- it’s huge, dark, roasty, almost syrupy, and it packs a mighty punch. Impressively, though, it’s blended together well and it stands as a really good beastly stout in its own right.

ABV 15.2%, batch 102, bottled on 03/05/2013. 33cl bottle at home Only Good Beer, Budapest. Body is pitch black, head is medium, brown, creamy, average lasting, excellent lacing. Nose is cocoa, milk chocolate, oysters, flavor is tons of dark chocolate, truffle, mild coffee, dried fruits, chocolate liqueur, herbs, brown sugar. Medium to heavy sweet, heavy roasty bitter, hint of sour. Finish is long lasting roasty heavy bittersweet, chocolate, medium alcohol warmth. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Not very heavy, excellent dessert beer, very tasty, great one.

Bottle: Chouffe glass: Black beer with a very quick disappearing dark brown head. Aroma is stinky: cardboard, sweat, soy, liquorice, manure, paper... Flavour is soy with brown sugars, bitters, spice, liquorice, roast, bah leaf, cardboard and coal tints... Aftertaste is soy with brown sugars, sweets, bitters and spices... Low carbo, close to silky oily mouthfeel with a spicy/alcohol touch and full bodied. Strange but not bad...

This really isn’t fair - comparing this massive IS resulting from three of the best ISs coming out of Europe to other regular production beers. The price is out of this world as well. But that said, this is a great brewing accomplishment, which isn’t always the case with "All Star" products like this one. The nose has more elements than any I have tested before - Tar, liquorice, roasted malt, Cream, and burnt butter on top of some earthy hops. Those nose elements follow through into the taste profile, complimented by bittering hops with tropical fruit, Cocao nibs, coffee, roasted caramel, dark berries and molasses. A rich, oily, viscous body coats the mouth with alcohol warmth. Delicious.

Kraambezoek voor Roza tasting. Enorme dijk aan koffie en bourbon, alcoholisch als de pest maar soms vergeet je het en merk je het niet. Brand wel bijna door je tong heen. Backlog from 2015/02/09.

Completely black in colour and absolutely no head. Complex tastes of licorice, fresh coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Very full, somewhat oily body, light carbonation, and a very long finish of licorice, coffee and alcohol. A strong, fantastic imperial stout

Black as black can be with a nice thin brown head. Smells of treacle, marmite, molasses, wood, port, brown sugar and rich roasted dark malt, dark fruits, including raisins, and figs. Tastes of dark prune, figs, raisins and sultanas, Christmas cake, roasted dark malt, coffee. Full delicious body. Delicious stout
