COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This bottle contains an India Pale Ale from a bygone era. An era of towering sailing ships, burgeoning empires and world shaping beers. This is an ale hand crafted with British malts and English hops to recreate the epic IPAs that were sent on monumental ocean voyages from England to India by sea in the 1800s.

Old World IPA is an attempt by punk post modern Scottish Brewers to pay tribute to a 200 year old odyssey and heritage with a healthy dose of swash-buckling adventure.

0.66l bottle. Hazy orange body, off-white head. Aroma of biscuit, toast with a hint of roasted malts. Toasty malt taste with a nice floral hop flavor. Not as bitter as a usual American style IPA, the hop taste is more evident than the hop bitterness. I like this beer.

Pours amber with a large frothy off white head that slowly settles. Aroma is rye bread, floral notes, honey, toffee. Taste is rye bread, honey, caramel, floral notes, some spices, slight toffee. Mouthfeel is somewhat dry and quite carbonated. Decent, but then I’m not that big a fan of English-style IPA:s.

Extra malty English style ale. Really sessionable taste wise, the alcohol sure is deceptive. Cool respect for history, but otherwise not a big beer like Hardcore IPA. Anyways I like it.

Tap at Brewdog, Sheffield. Hazy, orangey amber. Off white head. Thick toffee fruitiness. Some bubblegum. Taste is fruity dry. Light bitterness. A little sourness on the finish.

660ml brown bottle with a pirate-ship themed cool looking label, poured in a Spiegelau IPA glass. Appearance is clear dark amber with a medium sized frothy beige head with good retention, that when reduced left some lacing. Aroma of orange peels, caramel and a hint of pineapple. Flavours of orange peels, grapefruit, caramel, resin, spices and a hint of alcohol. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. Overall a good IPA, maltier and less hopped than I expected from BrewDog, nice for a change.

On tap at Brewdog Shepherds Bush. Hazy amber orange colour lasting off white head. Herby flavour in this IPA. It grew on me. Solid toffee malt flavour decent herb hop decent bitterness on the finish. Yes liked it.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy dark golden with a medium white head. Aroma and taste of grapefruit, herbs, hay and light earth. The finish was bitter. A bit boring to be honest, I wonder where the hops were?

Amber and hazy with medium head. Grassy, citrus, herbal and spicy, somewhat earthy notes followed by caramel and yeast. Small bit of pineapple as well. Bitter, well balanced, full-bodied. Very nice, unique label.

Best thing about this beer is the label - truly beautiful. A straight forward citrus dominated IPA. Nice enough, but not a beer than inspires repeat performances.
