COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & occasional keg,special
Gently crated by hand in Scotland, this Old World Stout perfectly recreates the imperial beers of years gone by; brewed to the traditional percentage of alc. 9.5% by vol. To avoid freezing during its journey across the Baltic Sea to snowy Moscow.
All full bodied taste, this opulent whirl of hops and malt even rivals the most colourful of imperial faberge eggs.
Originally created to celebrate the Russian royal family, this beer is a fitting tribute with which to toast your own empire.- See more at: http://www.brewdog.com/product/old-world-russian-imperial-stout#sthash.sIclAyxe.dpuf

Black with slowly disappearing dark beige head. Roasty, coffee and chocolate aroma with a bit of a dreid plum and alcohol. Very sweet with a lot of hotness on a back of a throat coming from alcohol.

Bottle at home. Three year old bottle. The colour is deep dark brown to black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee beans, dark chocolate, smoke, leather, black currants and wood. Has a well-roasted flavour with ash, coffee beans, black currants and very dark chocolate. Has a slick and oily mouth feel, full-bodied, and a light to medium bitterness. A well-balanced and greatly roasted.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, blackish beer with a big bubbly tanned head on top. Aroma is rather roasty, hints of chocolate and a fragrance of booze. Flavor is mildly sweet, hints of coffee and chocolate, some roasty notes. A bit dull and mediocre, yet entertaining and no major flaws detected or anything. Just a very decent impy stout, nothing more in my book.

0.66l bottle from #251. this had to be one of the heaviest top filled beers I’ve ever seen. Literally there is ONE pico-milometer head space in the bottle. Well, guess it’s good for the economy if everyone could fill em like this. Anyhow, in the glass this is a quite a good looking one. Really deep dark brown, near black actually and it has a big sour dough bubbly dark er chocolate dark fluffy lingering head that really sticking in there. On the nose it’s a tad milder than what I was expecting. Yeah, it’s burnt and quite roasted with tones of both charcoal and ink but that’s about it. Lacks a depth with some sweetness and complexity. Not directly a letdown by all means, but I had definitely hoped for a bit more. It has much more things going on in the taste. Feels thick gliding and oily in the out while the carbonation level is what you would call soft. Loaded with her bitter burned chocolate and wood. The alcohol is really well masked as usual with BrewDog higher alcohol beers. Roasted malty, on the border of being a tad to roasted - even burnt, bitter bread crust with some cream and rose hints in the finish. Much sweeter in the taste than the aroma suggested, but definitely not to much or over the top. Some quite clear tones if smoked malts here also. Undoubtedly a good one, but not what I had hoped when I heard that they would bring the Old World series to life (with something else than the aliases) 14.03.2014

Roasted malt, chocolate, some licorice. Taste is heavy on the roasted malts, a bit sweet in the begining but then becomes bitter. Didn’t like it.

Svart med lavt brunt skum som ligger godt. Lukter espresso, toast, mørk sjokolade, svisker og mørke frukter. Fyldig alkoholvarme, mørk sjokolade og noe salt lakris. Lang salt, noe bitter i ettersmaken

Bottle at home. Pours deep unclear brown to black, deep dark brown amber hue. Small dark beige head. Deeply roasted body, warm alcohol glowth, dark chocolate, caramel. Thick body, high on the roasted flavours, loads of brown sugar, increasingly fruity bitters in the end;. Very nice RIS! Not the typical overblown Brewdog stout.

from Erzbierschof - black beer under a solid dark beige foam; aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, plumsand tobacco; very creamy palate; velvety mouthfeel; a bit oily, some sweetness and a solid bitterness; apparent alcohol, sharp peppery notes and more chocolate in the finish; lingering notes of licorice - very good
