this thing pours a pan-reduced blood color or black to the untrained eye. Very thin sheet of off-white suds atop. Nose is predominately roasty and earthy with notes of chocolate and cola, Custardy mouthfeel with vanilla induced flavors...chocolate mousse, with pretty chewy scotch characteristics. Carbonation is on the low side making the beer somewhat syrupy. Somewhat of a bitter finish. It’s not bad, its unique for the scotchy flavors, but it doesn’t wow me by any means. .

A whisky drinker’s beer and one of the best of the Paradoxes to cross this gullet. I expected a Glen Grant headbutt and was pleasantly surprised. This is seductively easing drinking. Terrific appearance: thick head showing good length and big lace. Surprisingly soft aroma for this style - oaky memories of your granddad’s armchair, attic dust, empty whisky bottles and Milo chocolate drinks. Superb silken mouthfeel. Soft caffe latte and vanilla notes through the front of the palate. Much more refined than some of its brothers in the Paradox family. Sweet brown sugar and a terrific alcoholic bite as it glazes the throat. Lovely stuff. (BB 2/2/20)

Pours a pitch black. Thin eggshell head. Aroma is of oak, vanilla, and whiskey. Delicious. Flavor, however, is much more mellow. To a fault, in fact.
