25th April 2008 Smooth stout with smooth whiskey tones. Just a hint of smoke and a bittering finish. Smooth!

Bottle. I think this came from MagicDave06. pPours a dark brown with a generous tan head. Smells of smoke, roasted malt, oak, some hints of single mat, some spicy hints. The smoke is really big in this one. Tastes of smoke, roasted malt, scotch, dry, spicy, peaty. Unfortunately, the booziness is too present with not enough malt to back it up.

Draft at the Pub. Poured a dark, rich brown with a thick, creamy tan head. Aroma is strong with roasted malts, smoke (hickory), and scotch. On the palate, it is chewy and complex. The flavor really brings out a smoked hickory flavor, reminds me of smoked bacon. It also hides a bit of the scotch and brings out the roasted malts in the finish. It does finish pretty dry. I am normally not a fan over over smoked beers, but this one is an exception. It is so complex and packed full of different flavors, that I get past the smoke pretty easily.

1. From the Bottle at Tom’s Ultimate Glasgow Tasting, Blackfriars 01/12/2007 Some whisky aroma. Dark red coloured fruity and strong in alcohol. Some bitterness in a warming whisky finish. 2. From the Bottle at the Ben Nevis, Glasgow 01/12/2007 Smoked whisky aroma. Dark red coloured and strong in alcohol with a chocolaty roast and whisky finish.

Amazing Impy stout. Notes of scotch, tannins, smoke, peat, coffee, chocolate - god this is complex! Pours dark with beige head. Flavor is all like the nose. Perfect Impy Stout IMO. I haven’t had one with this complexity since BA Rasputin. Amazing beer.

Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Pours dark chocolate brown with a thin film of tan with some big bubbles lingering. Awesome nose of scotch, chocolate and wood. The flavor was similar but a bit less full. As it warms the flavor becomes more complex and smoked peat and tobacco influences emerge. Medium to full mouthfeel and slight bitter finish.

12oz via trade with magicdave. Damn this is totally, totally difficult to figure out which batch it is etc... Pours black with a thin black ring. Nose is sweet and boozy with a very slick whiskey feel. Taste is sweet, chocolaty. Rich and scotchy, pretty tasty beer.
