(Bottle, thanks rickgordon!) Pours black. The aroma is heavily malty with roasted and light burned barely, some graininess, whisky, vanilla, butter, coffee, burned rubber, brow sugar, burned liquorice along with a nice alcohol warmth. Some sweet and subtle fruitiness in the undertones. The nose is all about the malt with a well integrated and not to strong oak touch. The flavour is fat with liquorice and coffee up front but also some notes of whisky and chocolate cream. Heavily roasted and light to medium burned. The oak is perfectly integrated in the flavour as well. The mouthfeel is heavy and oily. Lingering roasted aftertaste with oak in the background. Full bodied. This is an ass kicking Imp!

Bottle from cgarvieuk. Best before 31/08/2008. The pour is black, but not opaque. The head look like that upon a frothed cappacino. I’m picking up the usual suspects in the nose, though much more in harmony with each other then a lot of its type. A complex blend of of oak, whisky, vanilla, toasted marshallow, and a very nice layer of smoke. Mmmmm. Chocolatey. The whisky character is totally unoffensive. A pleasant oaky dry flavor. Medium body. Average carbonation. Dry finish. I tend to like my imperial stouts a bit fuller body. That being said, this is soooo easy to drink, and the flavors are all in close to perfect balance. Thanks so much, Craig.

Bottle @ Craig´s, november 07. Regaliz, cinnamon, treacle aroma with some molasses notes. Bitter chocolate, cognac flavor with some medicinal notes. Full mouthfeel. Flavor coats you mouth in a velvety way and leaves a rounded chocolate aftertaste. Not so opaque black color with shinny ruby hues and a beige rim. Excell flavor packed chocolate madeira imperial stout.

NorCal December ’07 - Another huge THANK YOU goes out to oh6gdx for sending me this one. It’s a fantastic beer on it’s own, but after having the 001 batch, I think that’s quite a bit nicer. But as I said, this is still a great beer. The beer pours out a dark brown, almost black hue with a next to nothing brown head. Aroma of whiskey, vanilla, chocolate and sweet malts. It’s a very strange mixture but it works very well. Mouthfeel is full, round and smooth. Flavors are chocolate, roasted malts, and whiskey. Not nearly as complex as batch 001, but just as enjoyable.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of whiskey as well as light notes of smoke. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of whiskey and vanilla, leading to a dry woody finish. The alcohol burns on the tongue.
