3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fin (6180) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2008
Tasted blind along with three other Paradox Imperial Stouts on an Imp Stouty Tasting evening with Case, Traci and Loz 14-03-08, Poured very dark brown with just a small amount of beige bubbles. The aroma is stunning soft crushed tangerines that had been steeped in christmas spirits, quite wonderful. The taste is very silky smooth, oaky creamy vanilla starts to show first and the alcohol starts to show, it’s got a lazy quality about it which is great the whisky chracteristics have become so well intergrated into this beer it feels quite right. I like it but it still could have been better. big, big thanks to Craig, cgarvieuk for getting me these beers, cheers mate.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 3, 2008
12oz bottle. BB4 2/12/08. Minimal head on very dark beer. Strong aroma of alcohol and characteristics of the barrel aging. Mild aroma at first but grows and grows. If the barrel aging does anything it has stretched out and softened the character of the beer and definitely added a soft whiskey finish.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DownsouthGav (601) - Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 28, 2008
Bottle from Utobeer. Pours a pitch oil like black liquid. Hoppy nose with wine, alcohol, dried fruits and malt. Taste is incredibly vinous and much like a heavy port. Quite drinkable but definitely a sipper.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ThomasE (5176) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 28, 2008

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jukkabro (3486) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 20, 2008
Near black colored with red hints. Little light brown head. Rich aroma with sweet dominating whiskey tone, some oak and roastiness also present, vanilla is very strong too. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is like aroma: vanilla and oaky whiskey dominating, somehow bland palate still. Aftertaste dries with still this whiskey here, mild alcohol also comes up. Not too much roastiness here, still excellent brew.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - FEB 16, 2008
Paradox parallel tasting Black color, nice head, but not persistent; I expected a bottle conditioned beer, but this one is filtered. The aroma is very nice, delicate, of Bourbon vanilla and some caramel. The mouthfeel is quite smooth, almost creamy, at all not thick as an American Imperial Stout, lean I would say; there is a quite strong dark chocolate flavor, well corrected by the strong Bourbon vanilla; balanced all the way to the final, when the roastiness heads up, and with a minimum alcohol perception (maybe more alcohol than the others, also because of the less sweetness). Very good.

Bottled. Black with a medium sized brown fluffy head. Very nice with notes of malt, liqourice and chocolate. Body a bit too thin.

Aniseed, molasses and burnt caramel flavor. Smoke notes with some regaliz. Warming. Medium palate, not heavy, rewarding and complex. Excellent, whiskyish imperial stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Bov (8158) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - FEB 1, 2008
courtesy of fiulijn - dark brown colour without foam; decently smokey, notes of pear, highland whisky-like aroma (maybe something like a Macallan); some sweetness and a robust malt body; oily and with a strong bitterness; dry and very bitter finish where notes of caramel are playing with those of alcohol, wood and cherry
