Imperial Stout aged in American Bourbon Barrels for 12 months. A schizophrenic translatlantic son of a bitch of a beer. Huge, decadent imperial stout clashes in the most beautiful way with the best incarnation of the American Dream since Nixon choked on a cheeseburger. We think this might just be the best Paradox ever. Available in both keg and bottle.

deep dark, almost black colour, 1 inch of dense beige-brown head; aroma of chocolate, whisky, some coffee, hints of dried berries and wood; taste of intensive roasted bitterness, coffee, chocolate, whisky, and herbal notes; roasted bitter aftertaste with long lasting spicy alcohol; excellent imperial stout

From a 330ml bottle on 29/12/2014. Pours the darkest of browns with a small tan head. Has a strong aroma featuring toffee, caramel, treacle and a huge whiff of alcohol. It’s a complex beast in the mouth - very sweet at the start, but the bourbon comes right over the top to let you know you’re dealing with a heavy hitter. There’s a lot going on here, including toffee, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, molasses, fruit cake, plums and dates, with the sweetness tempered by a firm bourbon filled burn. The boozy bitterness lingers at the back of tongue, which isn’t a surprise for something weighing in at 15%. Despite the intensity and ’bigness’, it’s still quite smooth and goes down with surprising ease. The palate is surprisingly thin given the style and the carbonation is soft. An excellent sipper for dessert time.

Brewdog tasting @ Viisi Penniä. Black color, tan head. Alcohol, vanilla and oak rule the aroma. Complex flavor with all of the above-mentioned things. Balanced finish. Full body, low carbonation. This reminds me of Pesäpuu Stout and I’m sure it would go extremely well with vanilla ice cream. A very nice example of the style.

Uno tra i prodotti migliori che ho mai assaggiato di Brewdog. Torbata ai massimi livelli, avvolgente, con note di cioccolato e caffè. Buonissima e paradoxale!

Backlog rating. Keg at BD Shoreditch, London. It pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma is raisins, dark chocolate, wood, toasted grains, leather and some light wild berry tones. Taste is quite sweet with more bourbon notes of vanilla, raisins and wood, some more toasted grains red berries. Soft alcohol kick in the finish with mild tanginess. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, very good

Bottle [from trade with Scopey if I remember correctly] @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, lightly chocolate and quite some bourbon. Taste malts, roasted malts, strongly bourbon, some alcohol, good firm bitterness. Medium body, medium to full carbonation. Very nice.
