Imperial Stout aged in American Bourbon Barrels for 12 months. A schizophrenic translatlantic son of a bitch of a beer. Huge, decadent imperial stout clashes in the most beautiful way with the best incarnation of the American Dream since Nixon choked on a cheeseburger. We think this might just be the best Paradox ever. Available in both keg and bottle.

Bottled@PBF IX. More or less pitch black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some barrel, mild alcohol and some mild toasted notes. Flavour is liquorice, some alcohol, vanilla, wooden notes as well as some quite burnt sugary sweetness. A bit too sweet, but otherwise rather delicate.

Dark opaque, small brownish head. Roasted, vanilla aroma. Medium-bodied. Lots of whiskey, dark malts, not much vanilla in the flavor. Quite raw flavor. If you like whisky, you may like this.

330 ml bottle @ PBF IX. Pours a dark brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, salty licorice, chocolate and wood. Rich flavour of strong sweet bourbon notes, saltiness, tart wooden notes, chocolate, roastiness and herbs. Full bodied and dry mouthfeel. Dry, wooden, tart finish with some mellow bourbon notes. Alcohol warms. Feels a bit raw and vanilla is missing.

330ml bottle @ PBF IX

Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, vanilla, oak, sweet bourbony butter notes, hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet, bourbony and roasty with notes of butter, oak, dark chocolate and oak, some hints of vanilla. Finish is sweet, dry roasty and slick with loads of bourbony notes. Interesting, hides the ABV quite well.

Keg at Brewdog aka Queuedog AGM, AECC Aberdeen, 21/06/14. Black with a well appointed dirty tan head that retains well. Nose is big roast malt, dark chocolate, bourbon pangs, oaky wood. Taste comprises rich chocolate, subtle bourbon, rich dark maltings, molasses, toffee fudge. Full bodied, fine carbonation, fuzzy boozey warmth in the close. Cracking impy - well balanced, easy drinking for 15% which is well masked.

Bottle with Ruslan, Rachel and Tino. Pours oily black with a small tan halo. Big slap of alcohol. A sturdy woody depth to it with chocolate, liquorice and lots of booze. Candied fruits and burnt toast. Syrupy. Big flavours. I enjoyed it greatly
