COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BrewDog Anniversary Paradox bottled on the 28th April 2008. Only 200 bottles were produced. This was the first batch of beer that BrewDog ever made, it was aged for 12 months in a single Bowmore 1968 cask. It comes with a specially designed and hand printed label, by Johanna Basford. Designer Johanna Basford thinks, "each bottle is a little work of art in its own right". Enjoy yours.

Black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma has intense iodine and peat, and some roast malt. Dry roast malt flavour with peat notes and a hint of tart oakiness. This one really utilizes the peat touch in a good way, unlike some of the other Islay cask Paradoxes.

Bottle at ChrisO’s pre-GBBF tasting, 1st Aug 09. Very near black body with a tan head. Ultra-intense whisky cask aroma. Taste is equally extreme - from the very first moment it hits your tongue the whisky notes jump all over you like a schoolyard "bundle"! Simply too much for me, even as a sipping beer.

Bottle 33cl. @ Chriso’s pre GBBF Shindig ’09.
Clear medium to dark black color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, smoke - peat, woody. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090801]

A Mes rate: bottle at the ever brilliant Chris O’s Pre GBBF Extravaganza.
Firstly thanks to Greg Koch for opening and Ang for making sure I drained my glass and got some. Typical Paradox looks so an easy four. Much more sweet and fruity than the other versions I have had. Peat, smoke, chocolate, seaweed, oak etc. are a given. Palate is stunning as usual too. Exceptional all round. Hooray for BrewDog.

Bottled at RBESG 2008. A hazy dark brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of smoke and whiskey. The flavor is very sweet with extreme amounts of whiskey and smoke, the alcohol plays on the tongue before the burnt woody finish sets in.

Bottle at home, bottle #16/200. Black coloured with a medium sized beige head. Roasted aroma of peat and whisky with notes of smoke, dried fruits and chocolate. Roasted flavour of wood, peat, whisky and hops. Roasted, smoked and hoppy finish. Nice, nut too much whisky malt.

Bottle@KnutAlbert’s. Black with some ruby shades around the edges. Small tanned head. Whiskey and vanilla dominate the aroma. Also some pleasant whiffs of wood, peat, dried fruits and earthy hops. Taste is gently bitter and has an inviting fruitiness. Fine sweetness with warming alcohol and refined malts. Notes of salty licorice. Silky mouthfeel , mild effervescence. A great beer.

Bottle as a gift from the brewery, thanks a lot! Very dark ruby, beige head. Clear vanilla aroma, oak and pine. High carboantion. Smooth beer, discreet sourness, the silky stout making a splendid background for the whisky character.
