Commercial Description:
Bottle; Special.
NOTE: Marked batch 008 on the bottle label. Matured in a Bowmore 1987 cask although this is not detailed on the label.
This Imperial Stout has been matured in specially selected Islay Malt Whisky casks.
This aging process infuses into the beer all the threatening smoke, the encapsulating peat, the Atlantic essence and raw power of Scotland's most distinctive Whiskies.

330ml bottle, at home with renffisch, 17th June 2008. Pours a still deep brown with an eye wateringly peaty whisky aroma. The flavour is all malty, smoky, peaty earthiness. Lovely and smooth with a lingering taste. Almost a bit too much!

Pours nearly black, hint of ruby all the way through when held up to the light, light tan head with almost no retention. Intense aroma of thoroughly burnt sugar and wood with an almost candy-like sweetness. Flavour begins with sweet notes of resinous alcohol, but quickly develops a decidedly burnt and peaty character. Finish is very long and quite dry, lasting impression of burnt wood and peat. Very smooth mouthfeel with just the slightest tingle of carbo. This ain’t subtle, but it sure is good...

bottle. pours deep brown/black with almost no head. burbon flavor is almost nonexistant, kind of a let-down. rich, smooth body, very easy drinking. unfortunately, this bottle cost $13, and in my opinion, it was definately not worth that.

Bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours opaque with a bubbly, frothy, dark brown head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (burnt, nutty, toast, coffee), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of smoke, dates, prunes, and tar. Full bodied, sticky and spicy texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness; some notes of alcohol and wood, very raw.
