Almost black in appearance. Lots of sweet, whiskey malts in the aroma some roasted malt too. Thick, rich texture. Sweet fruitiness, warming whiskey heat and elements of cocoa and chocolate. Complex but delicious.

Het aroma komt voornamelijk van het vat, in de smaak komt daar een volle, mondvullende mout-zoetheid bij, die de smaakervaring gedenkwaardig maakt. Mooie complexe stout.

Pours black and opaque, thin beige foam head. No retention. RIS typical profile (raisins, roasted malt, chocolate and rye) but not evident whisky cask notes. Creamy, very low carbonation. Liquorice, roasted, chocolate, sherry/brandy flavours. Alcohol heat, mid-length. Too sweet. Good for quite winter nights.

Bottle at home (bought at Bierwinkel, Leiden (NL). Deep dark color, with a little creamy head. Smells after coffee, chocolate, a little smoke and vanilla. Coffee, dark chocolate, whisky, caramel, roasted malts and oak in the taste. The 15% alcohol is obvious, but not disturbing.
