Medium brown head shrinks fairly quickly with a hissing sound. Opaque black body. Roasty chocolatey marzipan alcohol aroma with toffee and wood notes. Exquisitely harmonic and balanced. Dry-sweet alcohol roasty chocolate taste with toffee and vanilla fudge notes. Full body. Soft, smooth mouthfeel with considerable heat. Dryish chocolatey toffee and alcohol aftertaste with smooth vanilla fudge and roastiness notes. Beautifully smooth and drinkable, while full of assertive flavours. A real masterpiece. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

33cl bottle shared by Alexcg. Pours very dark brown, pretty much black with a small light brown head. Aroma of wood, whisky, sweet malt and a hint of vanilla. Very sweet, much too sweet for my taste. Alcohol is pretty well integrated, but I think the aromas from the barrel aging is way too dominating. I miss the usual IS aromas. I liked the other in the series much more. Maybe itís due to the fact that Jura is not one of my faourite whiskies or maybe itís because the high alcohol content. Anyway itís pretty much a liquid dessert and way too sweet. Will try it again in a couple of years.

Bottle from Morten. Pours black, nigga. Aroma is vanilla and chocolate sweetness, some whisky notes, caramel, and cocoa, liquorice. Taste is sweet, lots of chocolate and berrys sweetness, some whisky notes, oak, sweet whisky and a bit of saltiness. Good stuff. I cannot write more, deal with it.

Bottle at home. Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma: a little boozy, roasted malts, liquorice, a little smoke. Full bodied, aggressive much more smoke on the mouth than the nose. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Verksgt., Stavanger. ABV is 15%. There is no explanation in the usual boastful commercial description why this beer is 15%, while all other Paradox versions are 10%. Have they actually added whisky to the beer (in addition to the whisky flavour imparted by the oak cask), or have they done some freeze distilling? Pitch black colour, large to moderate tan head. Strong and impressive aroma of whisky cask, with notes of both bourbon and Scotch, vanilla / oak, dark chocolate and liquorice, also sweetish notes of malts, hints of tar and seaside. The flavour has a solid malty sweetness, notes of molasses, chocolate, vanilla, Scotch whisky (with fairly moderate smokey notes). Moderate hops and peat smoke in the aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black body with a small beige head. Aroma is black berries, mild whisky tones and hints of leather. For a 15 % ABV, this sure smells little. Taste is mild black berry tones and sweet dark malts, with hints of smoke, whisky and wood. Dry finish with warming alcohol, which is elsewhere well hidden. Smooth body, low carbonation. A nice and rather balanced BA imperial stout, much less assertive than many others in the series.
