Black with a brown head - Vanilla and wood in the aroma - good malt body with some wood and vanilla - finishes with a lingering sweet malt and vanilla with some well hidden alcohol in the back - this was very good

Rated 3/24/13. Now this is more like it. Portion of a 12 oz bottle into a Hunahpu’s snifter. From notes. A: Pours a dark brown color. There’s no real head, expected given the gravity. S: Very plummy, with a strong whisky undertone. These tones are backed by a nice chocolate quality, and the booze is hidden very well given 15%. T: Smoky, peat-forward whisky opens and closes the profile, sandwiching a midtaste of plum and chocolate. Really damn smooth given the strength, too. Only thing I can nitpick is that the integration between the barrel and the base beer isn’t perfect. M: Really good body on this one. It starts sweet, but becomes drier as more of this is sipped. Did I mention the well-concealed alcohol? Don’t think I have... O: Oh yes, I was real impressed with this one. If this were $10/12 oz, I’d buy the shit out of it...alas, it’s around $15, so I’m hesitant to recommend this, as excellent as it is. Still worth a try.

Shared this with my bro for his birthday. Pours a thick syrupy black with little beige head. Really really sweet initially but as it warms up the sweetness becomes more subtle with some smokeyness coming out out. Alright beer but again at 15% is a bit too much unless your outin the snow.

0,33 bottle from Vinmonopolet Hillevåg. Pours very dark motor oil. Hard brown head. Nose is very coffeeroast, smokey, peated, some lactose, very bitter with more roast to come. The taste is whiskey, malty, lactose, a very bitter and nice finish. Powerful stuff. Loved it to a nice cohiba

Pours a pitch black, viscous body crowned by a large, bubbly, tan head. Alcohol, peat and oak is the first things evident in the nose, then roasty-caramelly malts. Taste is sweet, chocolaty malts with liquorice in abundance. Smoked, woody whiskey notes lurking in the back along with the warming alcohol. Full bodied and oily on the palate with just the right amount of carbonation, in my opinion.

Bottle. An opaque black beer, with an average sized, frothy, almost fizzy, lightly lacing, mostly lasting brown head. The aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate), with notes of peat/smoke, wood, alcohol, whiskey, hints of licorice, vanilla and berries. The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Full body, oily/thick texture, soft/lively carbonation, very long finish with light to medium bitterness, moderately to heavily alcoholic. A big beer, for sure. Heavy on sugary sweetness, booze and whiskey, but refined in its own, particular way.

27.03.2013. 0,33l Bottle. Batch 186, BB 08.06.2022. Black colour with tan head. Very smoth aroma of dark malts, smoke, coffe and smoke. Strong rich body with both alcohol and malty strength. Flavours of red berries, vanilla, smoke, oily and camphor wood. This beer is so strong that its almost difficult to feel the bitterness. Very nice and smoth strong beer!

Dark brown, black. Almost no foam. Very complex beer. Notes of chocolate, roasted and smoked malts and dark fruit. Sweet (maybe a bit too) and dry bitter aftertaste. Very good stuff.
