33 cl bottle from vinmonopolet vika. Batch 447. Pours black with a medium brown head. Strong aroma of roasted malt, caramel and wood. Dark fruits, smoke and licorice to the tounge. Medium sweetness, medium bitterness, ligt sourness, full bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Nice one.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 MiP (12136) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - FEB 28, 2013
Bottle, 15%. Sweet and roasted aroma with a whiff of booze. Black colour. Frothy dark brown head. The flavour is very sweet and quite smoked. There is a spicy hop note, some spicy liquorice at first turning more cleansing an mentholic. The mouthfeel is a bit thick from all the sugar. Tastes OK at first in spite of its unbalanced character. Thank god there is some smoke to balance, but I am afraid not even 15% ABV can counter the massive sweetness. Goes downhill from there, I think...

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small tan head. Clearvaroma of malt, caramel and alcohol. Roasty, malty, sweetish taste with clear caramel notes and touches of coffee. Overwhelming presence of alcohol. Strong, burning, dry aftertaste. A good thing.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 FatPhil (7497) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - FEB 21, 2013
330ml bottle (ALEhouse, Riga, MelnaZiema2013)
Classic paradox look. Aroma is a gentle dark roast, the whisky is subtle, I like that. In the mouth, the dry burntness is just short of ashy. There’s a touch of smoke too. Covers 15% well, in that I’d have guessed it was about 10%. Jura’s a good barrel, know that.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Marheb (1177) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 15, 2013
Merci Pat!!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 VMeth (28) - - FEB 3, 2013
Prodigious amount of alcohol balanced by real depth of flavour. Burnt treacle, coffee, dark chocolate, and warm notes of whisky all there. A wonderful drink to sip on a cold winter night.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 zenkis (257) - Ogre, LATVIA - JAN 30, 2013
sampled @Melna Ziema, ALEhouse, Riga, Latvia, 26th January 2013.
Pours deep cherry reddish with almost no foam. Sweet English type ale, very astringent, pungent on tongue. Alcohol presence is low in flavor. Roasted bitter aftertaste and again - pungent, no dry finish, close to full bodied. Kind of cola in aroma, not very much of coffee or chocolate, well matured overall (but maybe it could be some kind of unique yeast strains). Nice one.
