much better than i was expecting it to be, but too expensive to drink on a regular basis.

Botella de 33 cl en el lúpulo. Lote 447.

Bottle, at home. Bottle has been in my fridge for a couple of years I think. The best-before date is difficult to read, but looks like 13-12-16. The beer pours a very black one, with a nice light brown head which dissolves into a fractal pattern of small bubbles. Aromawise we’ve got a lot. It’s difficult to describe. Chocolate, sweet red fruits, coffee, sweet malts, wood. Thick mouthfeel, very low carbonation. Somewhat sweet, but not horribly. Flavor is liquorice, wood, vanilla, coffee grains, leather, chocolate, notes of dark fruits (prunes, raisins, cherries), nuts, a touch of alcohol. The 15% abv is very well hidden behind all the flavor. Something to sip for a long time!

330ml bottle shared with jeevan, and also on keg at the Edinburgh bar. One of the more subtle of the Paradox series, although that might be a contradiction in terms. Cracking stout underneath the light whiskey thing going on. Roast coffee and charcoal, vanilla, peat. Grand.

Bottle from Bay Ridge in Annapolis. A little pricey but my first Brewdog and hopefully doing so in style. Pours i to my FW Teku dark brown to black and murky in the glass, a very small brown head that turns into just a ring around the top in no time. Aroma is up front scotch whiskey, caramel, chocolate, some dark fruit, oak. Flavor begins with whiskey notes, molasses, and a bit of dark fruit, then bursts into huge nutty flavors and lots of peat. Finishes with nutty, peaty caramel flavors with a slight vanilla and oak. A really beautiful medley of flavors here that come in waves. Medium heavy mouthfeel with relatively high carbonation for the style. Lots of trash talk on Brewdog it seems but this is a real treat. Wouldn’t hesitate to have this again. Obviously plenty of alcohol presence here but surprisingly sippable despite the ABV. While listed as an imperial stout, it really has more Wee Heavy, Old Ale, or Barleywine characteristics than stout. Not a bad thing, of course, and rather yummy.

Pours totally black with a black head. Aroma is malt, roastiness, coffee, chocolate, dark fruit with whisky and woody notes. Taste is high sweet leading to a powerful finish. Slight alcohol burn on the way down. Awesome stuff.

Aroma: A gorgeous melange of Coffee, Chocolate, Roast nuts and liquorish. Appearance: Pitch black with a light brown head Taste: Massive hits of Chocolate and Coffee along with smoke and toasted grain along with note of tobacco and bitter orange. Palate: Thick almost like lightly carbonated whole milk... far more pleasant than it sounds. Overall: Absolutely epically massively massive beer. Very bold in all regards save hops as it has next to no bitterness from them.
