3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Impulse buy, 1st BrewDog and Scotch Aged IS. 12oz bottle into snifter glass, deep dark black body with dark tan head disappearing into a thin lacing. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, liquorice, dried fruits, some scotch notes and booze. Taste seems to further amp up the aromas; more dried fruits, deep dark chocolate, roast, light coffee, vanilla, some coffee, wood, spices and of course scotch whisky. Rich body, low carbonation, thick, oily, soft, complex with lingering sweet roasty finish. This is a monster, enjoyable sipper.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head. Aroma of luscious sweet roasted malt notes with light sweet liquor notes. Taste is sweeter then I had expected with some sweet roasted malt notes, light chocolate notes with some light scotch notes at the end which rounds off the corner. Body is quite full with oily like texture with light carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. Barrel-aging is not has apparent has I had expected but very good nonetheless.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Brewed in Scotland, bought in Kent, drunk in Belgium. An incredibly complex, powerful brew with masses of everything you’d expect in a 15% stout. You know when you have a really great beer and you keep lifting the glass and trying to take another sip even though it’s empty? Deeelicious!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle - 330ml. Pours an opaque black body with a thin brown creamy head. Well balanced, complex malty/hoppy aroma with bourbon, oaky, butterscotch, and fruity hints. Alcohol is perfectly hidden. Its robust malty/hoppy taste carries whiskey, molasses, fruity, and vineous notes. Ends with a long, strong, warming bittersweet finish. Awesome!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Deep brown-black with a fair reddish-mocha head.
Aroma: BIG, tons of sticky-sweet molasses, licorice, booze, very dark dried fruits, slightly bright (tangy) prunes, nicely-integrated peat/Scotch, very lovely stuff.
Palate: Medium-full body, surprisingly zippy effervescence.
Flav.: All kinds of big, rich prunes, figs, dark dried fruits loads of molasses and licorice, big booze, restrained dark chocolate, so fruity and boozy, lighter peat smoke/Scotch; very sweet with sufficient bitterness and a ton of alcohol, a very big “sipper” indeed.
Enjoyable. I wish they didn’t make it so strong though. I’d rather have two 7% beers than one 15% beer. Oh well, first world problems...

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Birra impetuosa.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle from IPB.
Appearance : Deep dark amber with small brown head. Short head retention and light lacing.
Aroma : Big spirit notes with dark fruits, light roasted malts, raisins, light wood, light vanilla. A bit boozy. Some chocolate.
Taste : Sweet spirity malt with light roasted notes, light coffee. Light warming spices with alcohol. Finish warm with light caramel and some dark fruits. Light raisons on the late finish with hint of smoke.
Palate : Lively carbonation. Pretty high for the style and for what we often see with the Paradox series.
Overall : Not my favorite paradox. A bit too much alcohol. Still en enjoyable sipper, fairly complex. Nice persistent finish. Well balanced flavor profile (except for the alcohol that is a bit too present). Interesting as always but a bit too pricey for what it is.
