Bottle. Sharp strong dark wood scents. Smokey cloudy dark peat flavour. Dark beer with strong alcohol and sour whiskey peat.

330ml bottle pours almost black in color with a small beige head that leaves only a small trace of lacing behind. Aroma is roasted grains and chocolate with some whiskey and peaty smoke. Taste is along the same lines as the aroma with a mild hop bitterness. A very well done imperial stout and highly recommended.

Bottle. Pours a dark red/amber with a thin tan head. Beautiful aroma of smoke/peat. Tastes very malty; notes of chocolate and molasses. Earthy hop notes. Finishes with a smoky peat sweetness. Very complex; very interesting.

Weird, wacky and wonderful. Roastiness, alcohol, bitterness, and through it all, whiskey, tying it all together and giving it a kind of mysterious smoothness.

Colour is black and minimal head. Nose: Delicate peat wrapped around Costa Rican coffee beans, potato, burnt chocolate. Taste: Mushrooms at first, then sea salt and peat. Oak begins to show in the middle, followed by late fizz and sweet cocoa. Finish is almondy and deliciously long. Very unique and interesting stuff. Heavy beer and packs a whallop.

You really get a nose of wiskey, even as you pour it out of the bottle. Some peat in there too, over top of all the imperial malts. almost reminds me of gourmet coffee in the hospital. It’s quite dark but you can still see brown around the edges, which isn’t dark enough for an imperial stout. Also, there isn’t really any head, and the lacing is more like a flat beer than one just poured. Taste comes one strong! A big rush of alcohol and coffee flavour in your mouth, it gradually, slowly, dies down to let the malts linger on your tounge, and then after the sweetnes dissolves there is still wiskey flavour there. That might be the most distinct flavours I’ve yet encountered from a single sip of a beer. This is really good in some aspects and a bit lacking in others, it’s a bit too much to be having all the time, but once in a while, just for a kick in the mouth this would be a good wiskey stout.

Pours black with a minimal beige head the disappears shortly thereafter. Aroma is of roasted malts and dark chocolate, however this is a little overpowered by the whiskey scent, somewhat smokey too. The taste is mostly whiskey and roasted malts and then towards the finish it becomes noticeably more chocolate and bitter. Overall this is good but it is not a personal favourite among imperial stouts.

Super awesome beer. Rich oaky whiskey aroma with huge malts. Taste is quite whiskey and nice smooth roasted malts. Pour is deep black with thin clingy tannish head. Overall, a very enjoyable beer.

12oz bottle thanks to presario
Appearance : Deep black with a medium head.
Aroma : Nose is a bit roasty with hints of oak, vanilla and liquorice. Some tobacco maybe. Feels a bit ashy or something, hard to pinpoint what it is exactly.
Taste : Roasted malt, again hints of tobacco or something. Some other raters said peat, smoke, dusty hay, ash and I would agree with that. Interesting flavour profile. It starts quite ashy and dusty but then it gets oaky with hints of vanilla. Then the finish has more chocolate and dry roasted malt. And after that, you stay with this ashy taste.
Overall : Very different. Kinda reminds me of some Old Ales a bit. Interesting but after half the bottle I feels like I had enough. I can understand why some would appreciate this. Its not that it’s not good... I think its just not everyone that likes this.

Dark brown pretty much black body with a 1” thick crown floating on top, retention is very good. Smokey stout aroma with some sweetness and medical disinfectant but in a good way. Aroma is mildish but ok. Burnt tasting brew with whisky/oak flavours but not as noticeable as in the other Paradox’s. The stout flavours are very strong bordering on intense lots of ash and backers chocolate make up the flavor, no trace of any coffee. There is a sweet flavor in here but I can’t pick it out. Good brew probably my favorite so far from the Paradox series.
