2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 dphoxie (57) - North Carolina, USA - JAN 8, 2013this bottle was on sale at the local total wine & more. i was intrigued by the "macallan" on the label. the aroma is sweet but relatively light. appearance had no head, otherwise basic stout darkness. taste was oxidized and light. I suppose oxidized makes sense as i was drinking in jan 2013 and the bottle was filled march 2009. I have no idea how it was stored prior to me buying it a week or so ago. palate was thin and light. overall it just lacked the complexity i expected. probably just poorly cared for and past its prime.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 MikeJslc (468) - Utah, USA - APR 20, 2013
Dark brown, think tan head. Aroma of deep, bready malt, toffee, a slightly rustic, woody and lightly smoky character from the Scotch barrel. Flavor is bready, toasty malt, some toffee sweetness, cocoa, restrained roastiness for an imperial stout, dark fruit, a light tobacco note, a little peat-smoke. Medium-full body on light side for an imperial stout. Very tasty.

Mail order bottle from probably about 2008 or so. I think the drink by date is either 2012 or 2009. Doesn’t matter to me. Pretty flat pour with no real head. Light aroma as well with a hint of molasses. Nice flavor though: chocolate and coffee but honestly just a hint of whisky in the finish. Good but I’d like it to have more whisky influences.

33 cl bottle @ HBF as ”Paradox Speyside (Batch 011)”. Rated on 20.08.2011
Aroma is sweetish with well roasted malt and smoky whiskey notes. Flavour has well roasted malt, whisky and woody notes. Not the best of the Paradox series.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 sulawang (408) - British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 29, 2012
pours coffee black brown with no head and almost no visible carbonation. Thick malts and caramel on the nose. Initial tastes of medium-heavy nicely sweetened (7/10) malts mixed with caramel, counterbalanced with a very light carbonation, milk chocolate, light roast coffee, light peat, vanilla and hint of cherry. Finishes bitter-semisweet with a lingering mild bitterness. Medium-high compexity, high depth, great transitions, excellent carry, great balance, good drinkability.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 nick76 (4073) - Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 21, 2012
The aroma is sweet and slightly fruity with coffee, chocolate, and cola. The appearance is dark brown and almost flat with a tiny head. The taste is like the aroma with only a minimal sherry cask element. The palate is thin and flat. Overall its more than a little disappointing but certainly drinkable.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BVery (4247) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - AUG 16, 2012
Bottle. Black pour with almost no head. Very nice aroma of sherry, wood, vanilla, and sugar. Palate is a bit thin for the style. Taste is sugary sweet, vanilla, sherry, and some boozy warmth. Very nice brew.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 SpringsLicker (2822) - Tennessee, USA - AUG 8, 2012
Pours opaque black with very little head.
Soft malty aroma; this has been in the ’fridge since I bought it and it is very mellow at this point compared to some of the other Paradoxes that I’ve had.
Some coffee, some licorice and vanilla.
Nice and complex and I much prefer the Sherry to the whiskey versions.
