Bottle at home ... deep brown red ... thin tan head ... lovely chocolate nose ... deep roast ... light smokey ... lots of roast ... quite a lot of whiskey in linger... again chocolate ... easily drinkable.

Bottle (bottled on 03/03/09), thanks to joeneugs. It pours very dark brown, with a small off-white head. The nose is roasted malt, rice pudding, caramel, milk chocolate, biscuit (actually quite a bit like a Twix) and some whisky. The taste is milk chocolate, roasted malt, some alcohol warmth, astringency, smoke, tobacco, tea leaf, nut, vanilla and dark fruit, with a long, dry finish. Full body and soft carbonation. Smells better than the taste. Ok, but doesn’t stand up against many of the other Paradox beers.

The smell on this beer changed my mind a bit. It has a nice smokiness to it. Peat, small amounts of chocolate and coffee. Roasted malt and a sweet small of Sherry. Then I took my first sip and disappointment ensued. This beer feels like a shell of it’s possible former self. I say possible because maybe this beer packed a bunch of flavor when it was fresh. On the bottle it said it could be aged until next year. But this beer like I said was missed a lot of flavor. It was weak. All the good stuff I picked up in the aroma was taken away by sweetness from the sherry. I’d say that might be ok but even that was weak. Nothing else came through for me. Then the other disappointing aspect of the beer was the mouthfeel. No carbonation. Dead and flat. Way to watery.

A Christmas miracle, I discover this in Mike’s fridge, thanks man! Pours a dark brown color with a bubbly white head. A sweet malty nose with fruit and some heat. The flavor is dominated by sherry with sugary sweet oak notes, some roast and bitter chocolate. Thin palate. Warm but drinkable. Quite nice. My love affair with BrewDog continues.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Near black in colour with low carbonation. Aromas are of heavy malts, vanilla chocolates, and unmistakable Maccallan scotch. Very mellow in the mouth with smooth chocolate, vanilla and caramel notes mixing with some scotch barrel. Divoid of the charred malt or hoppy bitterness that you find in so many imperial stouts. The slick texture and low carbonation make it very easy to drink. Perhaps a bit tame, but still tasty nonetheless.

it is what is side it is sharry and wood stands out more then anything in this beer. you better like smokey and bidder beer if you want to buy this beer. Aroma is grainy, oaky, roastiness, alcohol, tart sourness, rich and hops, . Aroma is very rich and dense. Pours with a thin wateriness with no head excepting a few white bubbles. Taste is initially barleywine.which is not surprising considering the sherry. Oak, sherry, touches of roasted grain, chocolate, citrus hops. This brew is well integrated, if a touch too much direct sherry and carbonation. The sherry is somewhat sharper than I’d like, and the oak is present but not . dominant. This is a very nice beer. would not unsider this a dessert beer but diffently a after dinner drink.

Bottled. Poured medium-deep brown with a dense, easily-resuscitated yellowy-beige head. The aroma was rich with Sherry, other tart vinous notes, and oak over a blend of molasses, honey, and roasty black patent maltage.. the barrel really led, but thankfully it was an interesting barrel. The flavor opened with sour oak and Sherry, paired with grainy oxidation and earthy character.. fairly generic black malts and honey across the middle.. grainy again on the finish, with oak and Sherry carrying it.. a lot of tasty vinous stuff right at the very end. Medium-bodied, dry, and grainy on the palate.. moderately sour from the barrel.. overall a good beer in a very good barrel.

Appearance: medium dark brown, with light amber notes around the edges; only one or two bubbles for a head, and minimal lacing. Aroma: strong notes of caramel and toffee over whisky, toasted malts, and raisins. Taste: chalk, charred wood, simple syrup, caramel, with a couple hits of whisky and dark chocolate. Finish: dry, watery, smooth and light, with an unexpected whisky heat coming up like heartburn. Notes: Sunday morning breakfast stout of the week. Pretty disappointed. The concept is awesome. The execution is lacking. Pour was very watery, and the palate was way too light. Flavors were also surprisingly light. I expected a big, rich imperial stout with lots of whisky flavors, which was at least borne out a little by the nose. What I got in flavors and palate was a watery porter that was extremely easy drinking because there was almost no intensity.

Pours deep brown-black with a quickly dissipating thin mocha head...looks watery. Aroma has cocoa and dark fruit...slightly boozy. Flavor is roasty with hints of bitter chocolate and dark fruit...mild earthy/woody notes...faint metallic taste at the end. Mouthfeel is slightly thin but finish is lingering and roasty. Macallans doesn’t seem to impart too much.

12 oz bottle from the Four Firkins. Black pour, thin film for a head. Boozy, oaky aroma. Thick chewy mouthfeel with a sweet oaky boozy flavor. Not a big fan, kind of tastes like a shot of scotch dumped into a stout. The flavors don’t blend very well.
