Fantastic beer, the best of the Paradox bar maybe Arran, a sumptious smoky/iodine aroma with a backdrop of roasted malt and imperial stout. Almost a hint of salt which tastes better than it may sound, a hallmark of the smokehead whiskies. A special one.

Nightfall (1263) - Hamburg, GERMANY - DEC 22, 2008
Bottle from UtoBeer. First of all this is clearly an Imperial Stout and not a smoked as it was listed before. Pitch black Color with a thin off white head. The aroma is very weird and complex. Smoke, whiskey some caramel. The taste is even more complex and beautiful. Dominating Whiskey, roasted malts, smoke, caramel, sea salt. it is however ver very drinkable and the 10% is more than well hidden. an excellent Brew!!

330ml bottle, batch 016, from Cornelius Beer and Wine in Edinburgh. The fact that it has been matured in Islay whisky casks is evident in colour, smell and taste. Pours a bubbly, off-head head over a devil-black body with a few russet highlights. Relatively intense peaty aroma with an underlying vapour of alcohol. Flavoured with smoked malts, almost like fire, giving way to a touch of liquorice and chocolate. Lingering bitter finish. Full bodied, but, nonetheless, smooth in the mouth. It really rocks, and is another masterpiece from the brewery [Served at room temperature at my hotel room, 25.10.2008].

33cl bottle. Deep black colour, thin head. Smoke is dominant in aroma and flavour with some roasted malts, smoke, coffe and moderate bitterness. Finish is more sweet with an interesting and warming whisky note. Quite thin body for a 10% ABV.

Bottled. Tnx Bullit. Aroma has chocolate, peat, iodeine, coffee. Black coloured, not much head. The taste is a bit sweet, medicinal. Much whisky present. Chocolate & coffee. Quite a promising one. I think it can use a bit more balance, which might come with aging.

Bullit (3284) - Burgos, SPAIN - NOV 21, 2008
Black colour, almost no head. Aroma of iodine, tar, coffee and wood. Flavour of bitter coffee, and toasted malts. Odd beer, but promising. Lets see how it develops with ageing.

Bottled. Dark color, short head. Aroma of coffee, chocolat, iodine, burned wood. Peaty taste, iodine, malty, smoked. Quite harsh.

Black colored brew. Strong aroma of iodine. Espresso flavors, chocolate, sal ammoniac, burned malts. Nice brew, but strange aroma.

Bottle from the brewery. Dark ruby, small head. Smoky aroma, smoky flavour. Dark fruit, some soot and tar, dry finish. Seems deceivingly light and smooth. Some warming aftertaste, but you would not guess this is 10% ABV.

33 cL bottle, courtesy of Magic_dave6. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is smoked and wooden, light roasted too. Smoked and light meady flavoured. Clear alcohol presence. Warming finish with a lingering smoke note from the back of the nose. Light chemical note in addition to this.
