3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Crazy dark, no head. Lots of peat and wood, high alcohol evident in the aroma. Overpowering peat, earthiness, and overall scotch all over the flavor. Some coffee/chocolate, toffee, and a little malt, but all are buried underneath the scotch flavor. Good and interesting, but tough to finish a bottle.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not real good. Nose smelled like sour bread. Appearance was typical stout. Flavor was smokey but not complex. The peat flavors were not as good as one would expect out of an islay scotch, they were muted by the beer, and the beer was entirely covered up by the cask. This was the worst of both worlds, where each component messed up the brew. The palate and the appearance give this beer an inflated score. The flavor was not that good.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
11.2 oz bottle with date of 08/08/08. Pours black but is actually very dark brown when held to light. Minimal coarse off-white head. Not the prettiest beer. Nose of peat smoke first, followed by coffee and chocolate A good marriage of Islay scotch and imperial stout right off the bat. Wow - what a unique taste! Smoke is more prevalent in nose than taste. Flavor is very reminiscent of a dank cigarette smokey bar and bbq meat - the burnt ends of smoked brisket to be exact. Quite salty. Deep beneath the bbq is the coffee and toffee malt. Some leather and dust in the relatively dry and quick finish. Kind of afraid this one is past its prime at over 3 years old.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at Bacchanalia Brewdog evening held on the 21st October 2010. As far as I understand this is the first of the Paradox Smokehead casks available. Aroma is great, less smoky/medicinal than expected, some banana, chocolate, smoke, tar, charcoal. Flavour is more of the same, with the whisky/spirit element coming through more, lots of bitter chocolate, espresso coffee

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A terrific imperial stout aged in an Islay whisky cask. Smelling it blind you would swear it was an Islay whisky, all smoke & peat. Lots of power & sweetness on the mid palate. Classic coffee & chocolate combine with maltiness all underpinned by smoke & peat flavours. It dries out surprisingly (in a nice way) on the long finish. A top beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma is of smoke and whiskey. The apperance is dark black with a small head. The flavor is smokey (ofcourse) with hints of tobacco and vanilla. Overall a bit to sharp but still an interessting beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2009 A nose of smoked wood and whiskey. Taste is very smokey, but other tastes emerge as well. Itís sweet, buttery, malty and complex. A tone of vanilla is very present. Finish is dry. Palate is a bit too watery and thin.
This brew had an overwhelming smokey character fresh, but after only 6 months in my cellar ླ degrees celsius) is has developed into a nice, but strange IS. The smokeyness has faded a bit though, for better and for worse.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Found this is in a Whisky Shop in Norwich. Only bottle they had.
Pours black, shiny with a thin haze of a dark head. Wow, smell is smoky, peaty, whisky, some vinenous but the beautiful smoke brilliantly overpowers everything. Like some kind of great Whisky Wine!
Great smoky taste, the burn on the lips of Whisky, then the bitter chocolate foloowed by more Whisky. This is amazing. Tobacco too. Wow. Strong, very strong, dry finish. What an intense, thrilling beer.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle @ Beer Exposed. Or stonehead as i kept callin it by the end of the day. I LUVVVVV this beer. It is awsome. (ended up havin james thinks 4-5 bottles) My favourite brewdog EVER!
Pours a beautiful dark thick body with a creamy tan head. Less pungent/agressive than the other paradox beers in smoked character but i would say definetley more rounded. Peaty and tar like with peppery fruit and oak blended to perfection!!! A complete winner and benchmark for making good whisky infused beer -----
(BY THE WAY GUYS THIS IS ANNOYIN ME) scottish whisky is spelt this way
Whiskey is Irish sooo get it right bogans!

On cask at Pizzeria Paradiso dupont. I mean, my fish aquarium caught on fire once and melted a 5 gallon plastic bucket. The resulting smell and taste in the air was approximately the aroma/taste of this beer. Palate and appearance were average. Holding your breath reduces the plastic taste. Iím picky about my imperial stouts, so take this with a grain of salt. Also keep in mind that this may have to do with the particular cask.
