Almost black, minimal boring head. Nose is super sweet, some chocolate and caramel not much booziness on the nose. Thin taste, lots of oak, some tobacco and charred wood. Bitter medicinal finish with some residual sweetness. "best by 09" obviously well past it’s prime

Scopey (5511) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2013
Bottle, many thanks to CGarvie! It pours deep brown with a reddish hue and a small quickly dissipating beige head. The nose is earth, wood, mellow roast, light smoke, dates and stewed cherry. The taste is roasted malt, cocoa, earth, spice, oxidised notes, light bitteress, rubber, cracked black pepper, dust and coffee grinds with a very dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Great to try, but over the hill methinks.

T - very dry oak, like licking an oak oak barrel, bitter unsweetened chocolate, soy sauce, whiskey. O - dry sticky oak in the face. 3.7 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

badlizard (5540) - Berkeley, California, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Bottle. Black with a almost no head. Big earthy, peaty, scotch and chocolate aroma. Nice smooth scotch, oak, peat, chocolate, and sweet caramel flavors with a dry chalky finish and an oily medium bodied palate.

SpringsLicker (3046) - Tennessee, USA - NOV 7, 2012
Pours black with no head. The aroma is a strange mix of dark malts, some whisky, maybe some smoke. The flavor is slightly sweet, not as complex or interesting as some of their others.

zacgillbanks (1841) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - APR 20, 2012
Bottle from Oddbins in Newcastle. Aged for about 4 years. Batch 10 and 11. A black oily beer with almost no head. It has whisky, oak and vanilla flavours, leather notes in the powerful warming alcoholic finish.

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 8/20
Beerman6686 (3870) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 2, 2012
This poured a medium brown color with a thin light tan head. Aroma was of whiskey, light chocolate and mild roast. Flavor was very watery, boozey flat whiskey, light roast, and nothing else, very thin and just a terrible example of the style.
