COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & cask; Special.
NOTE: Marked batch 005 on the bottle label. Matured in a Glen Moray 1992 cask although this is not detailed on the label.
This edition sees our Imperial Stout aged for several months in specially selected Speyside malt whisky casks. This maturation process results in the whisky flavours and aromas being infused deep into our beer.

Bottle at 16 Tons Winter/Strong Ale Festival. Pours a deep, dark black, little head, aroma is thick, rich, smoky/malty. Body is syrupy and viscous, finish is very complex, barrels are prominent but not overwhelming. Really nice, but I’ll probably never have the chance to have it again.

Bottle. Very dark pour with minimal head. Terrific aroma - whiskey and wood. Palate is moderate. Taste is the same elements as the aroma but not as pronounced. Still yummy.

sonnycheeba (3042) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Bottle. Pours opaque black with thin, fizzy tan heady; short retention and no lacing. Aroma is roasted and caramel malt, figs, dates, plums, scotch, vanilla, earthy hops, chocolate, and oak. Flavor is malt forward with good supporting dark fruit esters and faint hops; scotch undertones throughout with a dry, oak finish. Medium/full body, low carbonation, and high warmth. Definitely past its prime, but still a good beer.

Koelschtrinker (9994) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 1, 2011
Dunkler Malzantrunk. /9/9/10/11/9

Bottle of Batch 5. Crazy pitch-black pour with a tiny brownish head.. Light aroma of malts, dark fruit, chocolate and peated whiskey. Flavor is sticky sweet with smoky vanilla notes. Loads of scotch backbone with hints of chocolate-covered cherries, Chewable malts and a woodiness throughout.. I love good scotch and this one works for me. Dry, malt finish. Velly nice.....

Bottle... Poured near black with a thin, tannish head. Quite boozy, whiskey-ish. Molasses, cocoa, dark, roasted malts. Sweet with toffee, caramel, vanilla, and a nice earthy, oak and wooden balance. Slight peat and smoke notes to it too but far in the background.

11.2oz bottle. Pours a black body with a thin, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate, delicate, creamy lacing. Aroma is solid. Lots of molasses and rich chocolate. A smooth vanilla and softer roast that fills in the aroma nicely. Some scotch and a light oakiness that offers a pleasant addition rather than overpowering like some barrel aged beers. The scotch and oak grows more as this warms and seems more welcoming than other barrels, while giving off just a hint of sharpness. A faint berry creeps its way into the aroma as well. Flavor is more the same. Richer and sweeter chocolate up front with some molasses. Really soft and creamy. A gentle scotch and oak as well as a smooth vanilla comes in along with a rounding roast. Chocolate cookies and roast grow richer in the finish with a nice, warming, delicate scotch and somewhat spicy oak. Slowly dries with a light bitterness leaving a fairly lengthy aftertaste. Medium, silky body with a very light carbonation. Overall, this is a really solid beer. Lots of rich, rounded flavors with a silky smooth body. They used the barrels nicely on this one.

33cl, Batch 5, exclusive Scottish brew, thx to Jeppe!, complex Stout, heavy, yet balanced, clear, nearly no head, good brew, yet very expensive!

Bottle. Pours near-pitch-black but allows for a deep, reddish shine through the light. Oily texture, some lacing, modest creamy and tanned head. Nice aroma with with notes of roasted malts, whiskey/bourbon, dark chocolate and some faint, dark berries. The taste feels mildly roasted, smoked and has notes of vanilla, chocolate and some berry-like malt sweetnes. Palate is oily but relatively light, probably leaving some fullness to be desired, although this improves slightly as the temperature rises. Medium to long duration, low to flat carbonation. Excellent!

Pours a deep dark brown color. Small tan head head that lasted throughout. Aromas of bourbon and wood. Flavor was a lot of whisky, hints of smoke, chocolate. Full bodied and creamy. Tasted more whisky than beer. WOW, this is a flavorful beer!!
