COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & cask; Special.
NOTE: Marked batch 005 on the bottle label. Matured in a Glen Moray 1992 cask although this is not detailed on the label.
This edition sees our Imperial Stout aged for several months in specially selected Speyside malt whisky casks. This maturation process results in the whisky flavours and aromas being infused deep into our beer.

Bottle. Strong burnt and yeasty on the nose with subtle hints of vanilla and caramel. Pours almost jet black with a slight light brown head that is gone very quickly. Surprisingly smooth almost creamy in the mouth with flavours of mocha, liquorice, burnt toast and some berries hidden in the background. The whisky flavour is fairly subdued but there is some noticeable peatiness. BrewDog make some excellent stouts and this is one my favourites.

Best before 6/6/2009 Aroma is of alcohol, smoked malt, whiskey, tobacco, coffee, and chocolate. Yum. Taste is a bit off, comparatively. Taste is a bit thin and malty with lots of whiskey, and pangs of smoke and sugar hitting my palate. I also get a good amount of chocolate and coffee, with bits of red fruit. Decent. Finish is a bit thin and uninspired.

From the Bottle at Tom’s Ultimate Glasgow Tasting, Blackfriars 01/12/2007 Slight whisky aroma. Dark red coloured strong in alcohol and rich on the palate. Bitter coffee roast finish.

Black, thin coarse beige head. Strong kalamata olives aroma, smokiness, oak, easter puddingy salmiak. Kinda tangy ammonium, strong salmiak flavor, saltiness, dry woody finish with mild warming whisky, not as much olives here. Hints of burned coffee, but the salmiak dominates. A tad light palate, low carbonation. The olives are kinda funny, but overall it’s not too refined.

Dark brown no head. Lovely stout, mild, creamy, lots of coffee, low carb. You can tell the casks.

Pours brown and thinner than I expected, but still pretty thick. Chocolate, dark fruit and yeast in the aroma. Surprisingly not much whiskey yet. Whoa... lots of whiskey in the flavor! Very boozy, with chocolate, dark fruits, candy, and peat. The scotch flavors kind of overpower this beer, and its thinnish body doesn’t stand up very well. Not exactly my favorite, but I applaud the effort as it is pretty much what it claims to be.

33cl batch 5 bottle from Glen Moray 1991 barrel. Solid black pour with almost no head and no lacing. Very still beer. Huge aroma of whiskey, roasted malt and sweet vanilla. The flavour mirrors the aroma and is very drinkable. Very pleasant drink.

Bottle. A pitch black beer with a small tan head. Rather oily pour. Quite alcoholic nose with some vanilla, heavily roasted malts, coffee, molasses, a little smoke maybe, and caramel. Sure whisky-ish. Really warming in the mouth, full-bodied and a bit sticky. In a strange way, it also feels watery, or maybe boozy, even though it’s oily. There’s flavors of alcohol, roasted malts, dark sugars, molasses, some vanilla, coffee and a little smokey note. Lasting finish with alcohol, molasses, sweetness, wood and, of course, whisky. One might argue that it’s too dominated by whisky. If you want to drink a couple of it I agree, but as a night cap it works just fine. (090428)

Bottle. Gold sticker on the neck shows " Edition 005 Speyside Glen Moray 1991". Dark brown pour. Small tan head. Nose is toasted malts, molasses, brown sugar, caramel, wood, sweet malts, and light smokey notes. Taste is rather sweet. Lots of caramel, brown sugar, wood, light smoke, toasted malts, chocolate and toffee notes. Rather tasty, to be honest. Body is light-medium. Carbonation is silky smooth. Ends with more caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, light molasses, smoke and earthy notes.
