COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What do you get if you combine 77 lager, a Belgian yeast, some old single grain Scotch casks and the finest local Scottish raspberries? We are not really sure either, but we like it.

Raspberry peach aroma, with a bit of whisky and smoke. Flavour is mainly the fruit, with Belgian-ale style finish. Okay, not great.

Bottle, shared with Palme and Kai-Sindre, courtesy of K-S and BrewDog, who accidently packed extra bottles in one of his mail orders - cheers guys! ;-) Pours a deep clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma is mild malty tones with subtle fruity hints - no traces of berries or whisky here... Taste is typical smooth 77 Lager tones with some sour-ish fruity hints and a very faint whisky-like burn in the aftertaste. Still, these are extremely subtle flavors; if I hadn’t known about the berries and barrels, I would not have been able to say this was a lager beer with special treatment at all. A fresh and nice lager, but I prefer the regular 77.

Bottle @ ZZT’11 #2: Thanks to DutchDrebus: Small white head, disappears quick, on top of a clear dark orange colored beer. Smell mostly strawberry with hints of other red fruit like raspberry and (red) berries. Taste red fruit: raspberry, some spices hops and malts. Red fruity bit of a strange brew. Light sweet light bitter fruity aftertaste. Medium carbo, soft tingly mouthfeel, medium body and a watery texture. Bit unbalanced and after all pretty strange.

Thin peachy aroma. Some red berry in the taste. Watery, some chalky minerals. Thin and boring. A waste of my time, it’s a mess, at best. A beer made only for sad fanboi tickers, why don’t they stick to the good stuff instead?

330ml bottle. Pours a clear, medium ruby/strawish colour, with a thin white head. The aroma is predominantly fresh raspberries, and red fruits, along with citrus, malt. I don’t really pick up the wood ageing notes Dry, light to medium body, medium bitterness, quite tart/acidic (raspberries), balanced CO2. Lots of tart, red fruits on the palate, as well as some tannins from the cask, citrus, wood, faint smoke, malt. Weird? (2011-10-06)

A surprisingly colourful, pinkish drink that looks deeper in colour the further down the glass you head. A very white head indeed, that lets off plenty of malty, belgian aromas with a suggestion of sour fruit. It really doesn’t smell like it’s going to be my cup of tea... but the flavour was a relief. While it sounds like a ’throw everything at it and hope for the best’ kinda beer, it’s actually not too bad - predominantly nutty candyfloss from the yeast, giving way to a sharp fruity finish that cuts through wonderfully. Some rubberiness holds it back, but acceptable considering how badly I imagined this would go...

This just doesn’t work - there’s something off right in the middle that just covers everything else. Quite foul ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle bought from brewdog.com. Pours light amber colour with thin head. Nice aroma of rasberries. Far far to tart on the pallete. Not sure about this one. Probably too complex for the style. A bit all over the place.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2011 Strong raspberry aroma from this dark amber beer with a faint whiff of whisky. Initially tart but becomes sweeter with a subtle malt finish. Maybe needs a tad more malt to round off the beer but a good start. Some whisky notes creep in as the beer warms up. A7 A4 T7 P3 O14 =3.5 second batch: strong grainy nose and taste, a bit of yeasty esters but no sign of the honey or raspberries, very disappointing. Rating revised down.
